The three-Test series between England and West Indies in June has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Cricket West Indies (CWI) said on Friday.

West Indies had been scheduled to play on 4-8 June at The Oval, 12-16 June at Edgbaston and 25-29 June at Lord’s.

England’s re-arranged home Test series against the West Indies in July is set to get the official go-ahead on Thursday.

Originally scheduled for next month, the three-match series was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But weeks of talk between the England & Wales Cricket Board and their counterparts in the Caribbean has seen a revised touring itinerary drawn up with matches played behind closed doors in bio-secure conditions.

The West Indies cricket board has approved next month's tour of England where the regional side will play three Tests in a "bio-secure" environment.

The series, if it gets the nod of the UK government, will mark resumption of international cricket which has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Board gave approval in principle for the proposed upcoming West Indies Test tour of England," Cricket West Indies (CWI) said in a statement.

"The decision comes only after CWI medical and cricket-related representatives and advisors have been involved in detailed discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and their own medical and public health advisers."
