ENGLAND'S BIGGEST DILEMMA IS DISMISSING THE GREAT MAN

Read this comment from BBC Sport:
England's biggest dilemma is probably finding a way to dismiss the brilliant Chanderpaul and they will be studying plenty of footage of him between now and Friday.

He has a very open, unorthodox stance, which has served him well over the years, but I still believe the best bet is to bowl full and straight at him. He is a prime candidate for leg-before as he hangs back and plays from the crease line.

It does mean potentially giving away a few runs through mid-wicket or square leg but as he batted for more than 10 hours at Lord's for just once out, I would suggest it's worth a go.

England need to come up with strategies for Chanderpaul and if Plan A doesn't work, try Plan B. If they end up at Plan Z, that's the time to panic!

Alec Stewart was speaking to BBC Sport's Sam Sheringham

BOYCOTT PRAISES THE GREAT MAN
"I saw the first Test he(Chanderpaul) ever played in Guyana and a lot since. He is a perfect example to any youngster of how to play your own way.

Too many of the West Indies players, such as Darren Bravo, think they can emulate Brian Lara. They can’t. You have to find what is best for you. Chanderpaul may look ugly with his two shouldered, two-eyed stance, but the guy can bat. In the end, it is not how you look, it is how many runs you make." Geoff Boycott

Geoff Boycott is one of the most blunt and straightforward commentators in cricket---he is 100% correct---"THE GUY CAN BAT."

Boycott is an arse, Bravo isn't emulating anyone. He may look like Lara but thats it. He is doing his own thing out there if it happens to look like Lara that doesn't mean he is emulating him.

PAGING BALLOIL

Put this world record by Shiv on the stats page over at shivisgreat.com
0 DISMISSAL BY STUMPING: World Record: Shiv Chanderpaul holds the world record for most tests played by a batsman without being stumped. To date Shiv has played in 141 tests and has never been stumped; Mahela Jayawardene has played in 130 tests without being stumped. Tendulkar has been stumped 1 time in his 188 tests and Dravid was stumped 1 time in his 164 tests.

On another topic

For the remainder of the series fans should pay attention to see if Shiv can achieve 8 consecutive fifty plus scores---he would then hold the world record----currenly he shares the world record for most consecutive fifty plus scores(7) with Everton Weekes and Adam Flower. Rev
Which is of course something for the future, but on the approach to that point in time when Shiv will come out to the crease again, anyone who has followed the game of cricket with any degree of avidity will not bet a single penny against Shivnarine Chanderpaul surpassing that record. For that is the way of those special humans! Those folks whom history appears to be a tale in which they are predestined to star. So I would not put it past Shivnarine Chanderpaul to come out of this game standing on this pinnacle alone ... and remember he started the series against Australia with very little cricket! Jeez, that man is colossus.

Truth be told, for me, whether or not he does it will in no way detract from his accomplishments in the game; and so I am not too concerned. But were he to do so I will marvel once more at the blessedness that some humans display in their chosen endeavours. Imagine, that for all the tests that have been played, for all the great batsmen that have played the game, there is one man who stands on the threshold of performing that feat TWICE.

Shiv a dilema for any opposition? Nah, howzdat KNOWS he is way, way more than that! He is something like a phenomenon. Oh, please dont get distracted by the flashing light and the bling, bling, explicit lyrics and stuff :D cos the message is simple: Shivnarine Chanderpaul is nothing less than a Phenomenon! Oh and if you check the inscription on the stone in the vid it says:

"THE FAULTS OF OUR BROTHERS WE WRITE UPON THE SAND, THEIR VIRTUES ON TABLETS OF LOVE & MEMORY".

Shiv's memory will live forever as long as humans remember the game of cricket. Damn, let me sing it one more time ...
"Shiv is something like a Phenomenon, something like a Phenomenon, uh-huh uh-huh Something like a Phenomenon, uh something like a Phenomenon, something like a Phenomenon, uh something like a Phenomenon, uh-huh uh-huh Shiv sure is something like a Phenomenon and thats why we love him.
ps   I better go and get me a life ;) ;)

Read this gem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:
"Heights by great men reached and kept were not obtained by sudden flight but, while their companions slept, they were toiling upward in the night."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Shiv has practiced endlessly during his 19 year career---he has put in great effort into his batting---and has reaped the rewards.
