West Indies U-15 Tour of Hertfordshire & North London, August 2015

In the event that anyone at all is interested, limited coverage of the now completed tour of some of the more obscure cricket clubs (and one school) in Hertfordshire and North London,
may be found here:

https://twitter.com/u15westindies" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sadly, the boys received limited support as the tour, which seems to have been arranged by the England supporters' club, took place at fairly short notice and with very limited publicity.

Hopefully, some of these young men learned something from their week in and around the northern outskirts of London.

Note to the WICB: It may be best not to place a press release on your website (http://www.windiescricket.com/news/wicb ... 5-squad-uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) stating that one of your teams is playing at Lord's until the authorities there have been informed - the advertised match on 24 August 2015 "at the spiritual home of cricket" actually had to be re-scheduled for a club ground in Woodford, because no-one at the MCC knew anything about it (until they were contacted by West Indies' fans).

It's a pity this didn't receive more coverage, or I would've gone to watch this...Bushey, West Herts, and Stanmore are all near to where I live.

Not even the local community newspapers in my area reported anything on this....

I don't get the Watford Observer in my neck of the woods...I get the Times Group, and the one day I didn't receive my paper was the one day it seems to be the only time it was carried:

http://www.borehamwoodtimes.co.uk/news/ ... Under_15s/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And even then, this is all it had to say:

"West Herts will host a game between West Indies Under-15s and a Hertfordshire Development XI on Thursday. The touring team will be managed by former West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh and the 45-over game will start at midday with admission free."

No mention about a previous match, or matches at Stanmore and Bushey. The two articles in the Jamaica Observer made no mention of venues either.

If I'd gone on the WICB website, then I would've seen the schedule, but I must admit I've lost a lot of interest in West Indies cricket, compared to previous years....

Most of them are playing in the current u19 youth competition. Young Kalli scoring big runs, Simmons playing, the keeper playing for Guyana etc. It was a good tour for their development and i hope more will follow.

Some good yutes in there. Rico Reifer I've heard good things about. He actually goes to a cricket school in England by all accounts. Sachin Singh really stood out in the recent u15s competition aswell.

This connection we've made in England is a very important layer in the development of our players as they are gaining experience in foreign conditions so early in their careers. The last group done very well and hopefully this group will do the same.
