Let's look at the players who won the U19 World Cup, and see which teams picked them up....
Guyana - Shimron Hetmyer.
Leewards - Kacey Carty, Alzarri Joseph.
No one picked Gidron Pope, Tevin Imlach, Shamar Springer, Jyd Goolie, Keemo Paul, Michael Frew, Ryan John, or Chemar Holder.
If this is "forward", then we're travelling at less than 20 miles an hour....

LOL yeah "no-one cares about it" which is why SPORTSMAX will be showing highlights of the games plus Digicel are providing broadcasting duties?
And your chat about the youths just personify how DUMB AND CLUELESS you are about the PCL!!..which is no surprise seeing as you're NOT Caribbean and don't live here .
But anyway the reason some of the youths aren't "picked up" is because the franchise don't need to "pick them up"...they have to prioritise their senior players first and foremost in the fifteen man squad they pick originally. Then the likes of Springer, Paul, John and Holder will be able to play for their respective teams under the "pay as you play" policy which is exactly what Pope did last season.
Frew and Goolie were two of the weaker players from the u19s anyway...the rest I expect to see play a few games this season here and there...especially Springer, Paul and Holder.
And LOL at the yardies picking that garbage team ....Can't bat but selectors are so dumb that they think just adding Powell to the team is gonna make a difference? And no doubt Mike will ABANDON dem like him abandon di country once di licks start sharing....and rely pon di "CPL" which jam don't win either... .

And therein lies the problem....
By treating the youngsters like players you can just call up when you need them, you ensure that you pay them as little money as possible. In the meantime, you keep on the tried and proven failures who make up most of all the teams.
Here are just some of the losers who won't amount to anything who got picked ahead of the U19 players:
Kyle Corbin - FC batting ave 25 at the age of 26
Omar Phillips - FC batting ave 27 at the age of 29
Paul Wintz - FC bowling ave 61 at the age of 30
Dave Bernard Jr - FC batting ave 25 at the age of 34
Devon Thomas - FC batting ave 26 at the age of 26
Jacques Taylor - FC bowling ave 52 at the age of 28
Kyle Hope - FC batting ave 26 at the age of 27
Jason Mohammed - FC batting ave 26 at the age of 29
Tyrone Theophile - FC batting ave 26 at the age of 26
Do you really mean to tell me that these players deserve a contract over the U19 players? They are over 25, and are not going to get any better. These above players should be the players you pick on a game-by-game basis, and should not be the players who automatically get a contract. No wonder the C team that plays Tests for us do so badly....
Thankfully, the youngsters who've been overlooked for these shytehounds have another avenue to pursue to reward their hard work and success...the CPL.
BTW, I support Jamaica win or lose in both the PCL and the CPL...it's just that I believe the players in the latter have a much better chance of going on to become world-beaters than players in the former.

However, no one has ever accused WICB of knowing how to properly manage anything, albeit the business of WI cricket and players.

I suggest you keep your nose out of we COTR's business thank you very much...dem in good hands already and Hetty, Tagenarine, Pope, Joseph, Carty etc, who are all TEENAGERS, will be playing first class cricket this season so clearly the youngsters ARE being given a chance. Springer, Holder and a few others are expected to follow soon as well .

LOL Mike's senior boyfriends like Fatbert, Bernard, Baugh and dem GAWWWWNN bhai!!!..I wonder who's rass him gine kiss now? .
To me this could end up being one of the most competitive PCL's we've seen in a long time and there are plenty of talent that I'm hoping to see big things from.
Leewards
They are gonna have Hughes, Powell, Hodge, Bonner, Carty and Hamilton in their top order and in the bowling department Joseph and Cornwall, two of the best prospects in the region, So one would expect them to be better this year.
Guyana
Will be as strong as ever. Tage Chanderpaul is apparently looking very good in the trials and I hope this is his breakthrough year. Hetmyer has also had a good A-team tour and already has a PCL ton under his belt. A consistent year could see him playing for WI sooner than we realise. Singh is also knocking down the door and with Johnson, Chandrika and Fuda there aswell their batting should be strong. Bowling wise it will be the same old thing but hopefully Motie gets more games to shine too. Beaton also needs to step up more and get 25 wickets at least.
Jamaica
Brandon King is apparently very talented but has yet to show it at first class level yet. Also looking for Blackwood to dominate for Jam and score three or four hundreds. He really needs to show some consistency at this level like the likes of Kraigg does. Campbell also needs to step up and put his case forward for the WI opening spot.
Winwards
They've been in the mix over the last few years and one gets the feeling one day it might just be their year. Pope, Robinson, Hodge etc are talented young batsmen. In the bowling they'll have Shilly and Delorn Johnson amongst others.
Trinidad
Got some youngsters in there and some unknowns who will be making their first class debuts so not sure how well Trinidad will do this season. Jagassar and Khan will be a handful to deal with though and Cotterrell needs to show he can shine too.
Barbados
I think they will be very strong. They've got all bases covered have four WI players in their top order, plus one of the regions best pacers over the last six years or so and another current WI pacer in Cummins. They've pushed Guyana close in the last two season and this time they might just get over the line.
All in all it should be a very exciting season and with WI places up for grabs I hope all the players are focused on putting up the best performances they can and grabbing the opportunity with both hands.

yes, they do have bases covered...including chief selector, captain, their players get to bowl first and the man with most wicket bowls at the end of the day like a nightwatchman!! etc etc!!!
yes, you are right!!
