Of course Kraigg doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Shiv and Lil Bravo! Test cricket is the best arbiter....

1) Shiv - 51.37
2) Lil Bravo - 40
3) Kraigg - 37

Bravo only just makes it, with his Test average at 40. Any average under 40 is not world-class. Of course, Shiv is the last true world-class batsman we had. Shiv had an outstanding record when he was drafted into the side at 19. And even then, he was not a fixture, having to sit out a few matches to Keith Arthurton. When Kraigg was force-riped into the side at 18, he struggled, was dropped, and had to rebuild his game. If the selectors had allowed him to mature, and get enough FC experience, he probably would not have struggled initially. Now, the selectors have clearly not learnt their lesson with Hetmyer, who is looking green with only 18 FC matches.

Players such as Lil Bravo, Samuels and Blackwood are incumbents. They have already shown they can average over 30 in Test cricket. Not ideal, but that's the low standards we have to set in our poor Caribbean cricket. Anyone replacing them needs to at least do better than Blackwood in the PCL! As you can see from the final team of the round below, Vishaul Singh and Kieran Powell did not.

The bar has been set at an average of 40 and at least 500 runs for batsmen. For bowlers, it's a demanding average of less than 25, and at least 30 wickets.

1) Montcin Hodge - 616 runs @ average of 41.06
2) Kyle Hope - 649 runs @ ave of 49.92
3) Yannick Cariah - 691 runs @ ave of 43.18
4) Shiv Chanderpaul - 622 runs @ ave of 62.20
5) Sunil Ambris (wkpr) 608 runs @ ave of 43.42
6) Jahmar Hamilton (wkpr) - 648 runs @ ave of 46.28
7) Raymon Reifer - 445 runs @ ave of 37.08 & 36 wickets @ average of 21.58
8) Imran Khan - 44 wkts @ ave of 20.68
9) Nikita Miller - 58 wkts @ ave of 14.29!!!
10) Damion Jacobs - 34 wkts @ ave of 21.38
11) Veerasammy Permaul - 41 wkts @ ave of 17.51

Players just outside the XI are Shamar Brooks, Shai Hope, Brandon King, Devon Smith, Roshon Primus, Rahkeem Cornwall, Shimron Hetmyer, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, Shane Shillingford, Keon Joseph, Jomel Warrican, Kemar Roach, Gavin Tonge and Delorn Johnson.

So, how did the new inclusions in the Test team perform in the PCL?

1) Kieran Powell - 342 runs @ ave of 28.50
2) Shimron Hetmyer - 496 runs @ ave of 38.15
3) Vishaul Singh - 317 runs @ ave of 26.41

No wonder these three failed to get a half-century, and the team lost!

LOL Kraigg has EIGHTEEN first class tons compared to Bravo's eleven, so please stop talking crap massa mike because you're coming off as a bitter skunt

Furthermore unless you are a proven, world performer in the peak of your career, NO-ONE should be assured of a place when they are failing series after series just like Samuels was. Blackwood IS in the squad, so stop acting like the man has been totally left out. He was dropped for this one game and i suspect he will be back in for the next...can he PROVE he shouldn't have been dropped? Let's see.

And Hetty has earned his spot through performing at A-TEAM LEVEL!!..that is what you're failing to comprehend. And no doubt if he performs in the next game you'll spout a load of garbage to justify your silly notions.

And again I ask...WHO SHOULD HAVE PLAYED INSTEAD OF POWELL? If you can't answer that question then I suggest you shut your big mouth where he's concerned!!. 8-) .

once again, this makes NO sense whatsoever! but nonsense coming from WICB is nothing new!

If Blackwood is to play any match in this serious it should have been at his home ground! That is the best place for him to make runs and gain some form (I am assuming he was dropped for a lack of form).

Congratulations to reigning champions Guyana for defending their crown for 3 years running.

Coinciding with the 3 years of PCL cricket it could be argued that the unrest within almost every area of it's administration and application prior to 2014 have now been resolved satisfactorily, and I presume, the persons most culpable removed from positions of influence.

It could also be said Guyana's players have shown the benefits of a stable environment free of conflict which operates on merit and rewards continued excellence, even if the BWICBC don't reciprocate proportionately. Whichever the case, how has the professionalism and higher standards displayed on the continent not spread to other areas of the 'union ?
