Really happy that some teams have decided to embrace a few new players. Here are some names to look out for.

1. Stanny Simon

Is a tall, quick pacer who has done wonders in English league cricket. A lot of people expected him to be playing in the PCL for a while so it's good to see him involved now.

2. Chemar Holder

We all know what him and his partner in crime Alzarri Joseph did for us at the last u19 world cup. I believe it was his late arrival into the team that took everything to a whole new level. The kid has been injured of late but it would be great to see him play a full season for the pride as imo he's just as talented as Joseph.

3. Shamar Springer

Perhaps the most talented alrounder prospect we've had since Dwayne Bravo came along? And of course, he was another who was part of the world cup winning team. Want to see him progress now.

4. Ramaal Lewis

This young off-spinner from Jamaica captained his youth sides to titles a few years ago. His captaincy reminds me of Darren Sammy tbh. But his talent is on a different level. In the youth ranks he took bags of wickets and did the same for the West Indies u19s too. Infact his record may have been better than Narine's youth record. But of course the silly Jamaican selectors ignored him so thank God he managed to move. I think he could be a star this season if Guyana give him a chance.

5. Tevin Imlach

Wicket-keeper batsman who played alongside Joseph and Holder at the world cup too. Very decent behind the stumps and can bat. Will be interesting to see how he goes.

6. Ray Jordan

Was raved about in the region as the "fastest pacer in the Caribbean" a few years ago. And he was taking wickets for fun in the same u19 world cup that Rabada emerged. But he soon found problems with his action which hampered his progress. Since then he fixed his action and went off to English league cricket where he was taking wickets at a record rate. Really looking forward to seeing how he is today

6. Leniko Boucher

A Talented youth batsman who has all the shots. Also can bowl well too apparently. It's always nice to see young batsmen get a chance.

7. Kissoondath Magram

This young man was hailed as a "phenomenon" in the youth ranks. His leg-spin mashing up batsmen all over the place. But his progress into senior cricket has been very slow. He was with the pride for a few years but never got to play much. I hope we can finally see him make a first class appearance now.

8. Obed Mccoy

He too was part of the famous u19 world cup winning squad. But he got injured, then Holder replaced him and the rest is history. He's a left arm quick from Jamaica and of course their selectors ignored him so hopefully, he can make the breakthrough with the Winwards.

Other names who I'm looking forward to seeing are Carty, Harding, King, Allen, Jangoo, Tagenarine, Charles, Paul and Primus. All youths who made an impact last season and I'm hoping to see more progress from them now.

Honours were even on the first day of the first round match between defending champions Guyana and Jamaica at Providence yesterday. Wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble hit 62 and Chandrapaul Hemraj 60, to guide Guyana to 258-8, while offspinner Damani Sewell has taken three wickets to date.

At St George's, Roland Cato struck 90 in the Windwards total of 220-7, while pacer Mervin Mathew has taken three wickets so far for the Leewards.

It seems that rain ruined the first day's play at Kensington Oval between Trinidad and Barbados, because only one over was bowled.

According to reports, only about 70-80 fans turned up to watch the match at Providence. That's how low the interest in the regional competition has fallen....

"According to reports"...er, you mean SOMEONE ON CARIB duncy?   And please let me know about the vast crowds in the English, South African and Australian first class games!!!..show me their gates if you have any guts!!! :D

Here's a hint!!..nobody watches first class cricket WORLD WIDE!!!..only a few important county games will get a big crowd, other than that it's empty. And btw if you expect providence to be packed ON A WORK DAY then it just personifies how OUT OF TOUCH you are when it comes to the region 8-) .
