If Jason doesn't have faith in Bishoo then Jason doesn't have any sense.

It is certainly good to see that following his performances on the tour of England that ended last month, our premier spinner has now found both the conditions and a level of opposition to deliver his 23 over unchanged spell of confidence-building first innings bowling.

His opportunity to deliver victory against this level of opposition will no doubt come tomorrow.

At least Bishoo is delivering against this quality opposition. Our pace bowlers put together all took less wickets than Bishoo against this quality opposition. In England only one pacer averaged under 30 and that was Roach. All the others were more expensive at 37 and upwards. It makes you wonder what conditions and what opposition our pace attack needs to return figures like Bishoo.

The bowling of Gabriel and Holder has not been consistent enough.

The decision to take one spinner to Zimbabwe is looking pretty stupid now. Cummins should have been left at home and Nikita Miller should have been there. Push Holder up to seven since his bowling is not good enough and play Miller in the team.

But no. Pace like fire. . . .

As Nikita Miller underwent surgery in mid-September, it is unlikely that he could have been considered for selection for this tour, even if the selectors had been minded to select two specialist spinnners.

Gabriel was hammered all around Derbyshire by semi-professional cricketers in the tour match before he played a test on the England tour. However, it seems that he is capable of some occasional dangerous spells.

Holder is not a "pace bowler", and any description of him in such terms can only come from someone who simply is not watching any of West Indies matches and / or who has not seen him bowl for anyone else.

The use of the term "pace like fire" is, sadly, delusional.

By my reckoning, it is now over 20 years since West Indies' bowling attacks have been consistently able to trouble test quality batsmen on good wickets.

Marcus agreed on most points. Especially on Gabriel Holder and pace like fire.

Miller was operated on for haemorrhoids so that surgery could have been delayed if he was picked.
:)
The reality is that the selectors have ignored him year after year despite him returning the best figures year after year.

Zimbabwe 316 all out. Taylor 73.

Bishoo 4-105. Chase took two wickets and there were two run outs.

BWAHAHAHAHA you mean Massa Mike still pushing him boyfriend MILLER?   You do know that him been injured for weeks with haemorrhoids right? And furthermore our pacers were one of the reasons we were ever competitive in your country!!..so please wheel and come again.

As for this Zim series!!..they went to Sri-lanka and gave them one hell of a fight. Then they returned home and tried to do what Bangladesh do by creating a rank turner and packing their side with spinners. Thankfully DI COTR bwoys dem came to di rescue and got we di win. I wonder if Mike still calling Shai "hopeless" now?

Bulawayo is a spinning pitch...anyone doing their research would know that. A left-arm spinner would be of better use than Gabriel, who needs pace-friendly pitches to perform. We won not because of team selection, but because Zimbabwe are so much worse than us.

West Indies unchanged, because we neglected to carry a left-arm spinner.

Zimbabwe have two changes. Jarvis and Williams out. Moor and Chisoro in. So, they omit a pacer, and include Chisoro, who happens to bowl left-arm spin.

Gabriel and Roach account for the early wickets of Mire and Ervine.

& as if to underline mike's point about the team selection insofar as spin bowling is concerned, Jermaine Blackwood is bowling his 4th over on this the first morning of the test! Utter nonsense! He has even come onto bowl ahead of Chase & Brathwaite who are also listed as having the ability to bowl off-breaks AND have more experience bowling in Test matches than Mr. Blackwood!

A crazy conspiracy theorist might posit that it is a blatant attempt to justify Blackwood's spot in the team on the basis that he is not ONLY a batsman (who can't get a run against this level of opposition!) The captain either does NOT know what he is doing or is doing somebody's bidding! Garbage! And I couldn't care if Blackwood ends up taking 7 for nothing!

Zimbabwe 52-3 after 22 overs and I see elsewhere on the site the mighty AFRO pronouncing that the clock is ticking for Jermaine.
