We in di PM are disappointed with the performance, but after putting up a fight in England, and winning in Zimbabwe, we can't complain too much because like I said before, THIS IS THE YOUNGEST TEAM IN TEST CRICKET!!.
Brathwaite= Got a decent 90 and done Ok
Powell= Not good enough and we desperately need to find a replacement
Hetty= Got a decent 50 which is a good sign but obviously has a lot to work on
Hope= Had a disappointing series and needs to work harder on his game
Ambris= Got unlucky a few times and it was only his debut so won't judge him too much
Chase= Failed up until that last innings. Happy he did that as it at least shows he can bat in those conditions.
Dowrich= Dropped some crucial catches and did nothing with the bat, so he's another one who may need to be replaced
Holder= Done Ok in the first game with the ball
Roach= Done alright but not as good as his performances in England
Gabriel= Again he done alright but I'm just not sure he's a top class pacer tbh
Cummings= Probably had his best series, but again is he really top level?
Reifer= Done well Imo and should remain in the squad
All in all it was a poor showing and what really killed us was our inability to finish off a tail!!!..it happened twice and it took the game away from us. Powell has always been inconsistent and even when he gets in the best he usually gets is a 40, then we have a youngster at three who is still learning the game, then we had Hope who has only just elevated his game so is not a proven performer yet, and after him we had a debutant who isn't used to these conditions, whilst Chase struggled on fast tracks in England not long ago!!..and the same was true for Dowrich. So is it any wonder the batting struggled? IMO Our first task has to be to win at home, then we can think about doing stuff away. The likes of India can't even win in NZ so what chance did we really have?

AfCrow, just because they're young, it doesn't mean they will get any better when they get older....
Marlon Samuels, Sunil Narine and Alzarri Joseph have been ruled out of West Indies' limited-overs leg of New Zealand. While Samuels was pulled out due to an injured right hand and Joseph a back strain, Narine - only in the T20 squad - made himself unavailable for personal reasons.
Sunil Ambris, who took a blow to his left arm in the second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton, has also been replaced by Shimron Hetmyer in the ODI squad.

Our guys are so bad, they even lose to a Kiwi second XI....
Parikh took 4-47 to restrict the West Indians to 288 all out, with only the Hope brothers offering any resistance, Kyle getting 94 retired out and Shai 69. Raval then hit 169 and Popli 62, to propel the hosts to a six-wicket win with more than an over to spare.
There was one wicket each for Cottrell, Miller, Williams and Holder.
The roll call of shame in the 'B' team....
Lewis 17
Hetmyer 28
JaMo 10
Holder 1
Powell 31

Well, what other options are there? You senior boyfriends are all done old boy, so what else can the selectors do but shuffle the pack and hope to stumble upon a good combination? Kraigg, Shai and Chase have all delivered this year, whilst Blackwood has been in and out. So it's tough where the batting is concerned. But like I said, we've got to learn to win at home first before we can expect to go away and compete. England and Australia both couldn't win in Bang and were heavily beaten in India aswell. Our cricket has got to come to terms with the fact that we no longer have fast decks anymore and we've got to embrace our spinning tracks and finally use it to our advantage like Bang our doing now imo. That's an argument we in di PM may put to the board. Although Law appears to have a different opinion which makes things tricky.mikesiva wrote:AfCrow, just because they're young, it doesn't mean they will get any better when they get older....
And in closing, we can all see what your country is doing in Australia Mike!!...England, a team with all the finances, sponsors, infrastructure, academies, strong domestic and club structure etc and look at them right now? They have not won a test series away for TWO YEARS and have only won ONE test series away since 2012 (against SA) so we're not the only one with problems.

1) What are our options? Stop sending players into retirement before they can stop contributing. Admit you lot made a mistake sending Shiv into retirement, because since the WICB trough dwellers dropped him, we've lost every single Test series against a top eight side. The last time we drew a series against a side like England was when Shiv was a part of the team.
2) England are getting thrashed in Australia, and that's predictable. They are not a good side, but they're still ranked at three, while we're at eight, level on points with Bangladesh in nine. What does that say about us? We're at Bangladesh level....
3) All these teams are losing away, but they're winning at home. Our 'C' team is so bad that it can't even win at home. Do you see how low we've fallen, AfCrow? This is a new low....
Sadly, our 'B' team is pretty awful too....
West Indies XI: C Gayle, E Lewis, S Hope (wk), S Hetmyer, J Mohammed, J Holder (capt), R Powell, A Nurse, R Beaton (debut), K Williams, S Gabriel
New Zealand XI: Munro, Worker, Williamson (c), Taylor, Latham, Nicholls, Bracewell, Todd Astle (debut), Southee, Ferguson, Boult.

Beaton bowled nine overs 0-42, and Williams bowled five overs taking 1-18. There's one bowler too many in this XI. One of them could've been replaced by a batsman, like Walton.
Lewis hit 76 from 100 balls, and Powell 59 from 50, to take the West Indies to 248-9. Bracewell took 4-55 and Astle 3-33.
The top order all got among the runs as the Kiwis easily knocked off the total for the loss of five wickets and with four overs to spare. Worker hit 57, Munro 49, Williamson 38, and Taylor 49 not out, while Jason Holder and Ashley Nurse took two wickets each.

Jason Mohammed 9
Jason Holder 8
Gabriel 10 overs 0-57
Beaton nine overs 0-42
Holder nine overs 2-52
Williams five overs 1-18 (why only that?)
Nurse 10 overs 2-55

Worst. West. Indies. Team. Ever.
Nicholls hit 83 not out, and there were 50s from Worker and Taylor, as New Zealand propelled themselves to an imposing 325-6. Cottrell took 3-62 and Holder 2-52, but there was not much else to talk about. The West Indies were then routed for a pathetic 121 all out by Trent Boult (7-34) and Lockie Ferguson (3-17). Tailender Ashley Nurse topscored with 27.
Back in 2013, a Dwayne Bravo-led ODI side drew their series 2-2 in New Zealand. This side is a pale shadow of that one.
The hall of shame....

For those of us on the ground who are working hard to improve our cricket, I must admit this series has been a real eye-opener. It's embarrassing and personifies the damage that has been done to our cricket over the last twenty years. What we see isn't because of Davey, Hunte, Hillaire or all of the recent administrations that we've had lately. And it damn sure isn't the fault of the progressive movement either. We face a very tough battle to right this ship, and the fight gets tougher the more funds are needed.
Like I said previously, the year as a whole has not been a disgrace. We've won tests against England, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, whilst our t20 still remains dominant. But clearly there's gonna have to be a lot soul searching over the next few months and new plans are gonna have to be drawn up, because doing the same things and expecting new results just isn't working.
In closing it would help if some of the seniors would start to put the region first instead of chasing pocket change elsewhere. Bravo should be playing here but instead, he's sitting on a t20 teams bench, it's just silly. But anyway, like I stated before we must learn to win at home first before we expect to win away. And I believe we should embrace our conditions and build our attack around spin bowling at home because those are the wons who are dominating at domestic level and that strategy is working for Bangladesh right now having drawn with England and Australia recently.
It makes for painful viewing but keep your heads up guys!!!..we in di PM will never give up. Also wanna wish everyone happy Xmas and a happy new year.
