The England Lions posted 233-6 on the first day of their "Test" in Trelawny, thanks mainly to knocks of 51 not out for Coughlin, 50 from Nick Gubbins, and 49 from Keaton Jennings. Bulky offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall has taken three wickets to date for the West Indies 'A' team.

How many failures is this guy allowed to have....

On the second day of their match at Florence Hall, 12 wickets fell. Offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall took 5-68 to dismiss the England Lions for 252 all out, Paul Coughlin topscoring with 60. Jack Leach then struck back taking three wickets to date to leave the West Indies 'A' team reeling at 114-8, as the top order failed to make an impact. An unbroken ninth wicket partnership between wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich (90) and tailender Jomel Warrican (54) carried the 'A' team to 232-8 at stumps.

Campbell 0
Blackwood 35
Brooks 12
Vishal 10
Reifer 6
Cornwall 4

These are the contenders for the Test team....

Trailing by 27 runs on first innings, the England Lions were bowled out for a mere 132 all out on the third day's play at the Greenfields stadium by spinners Jomel Warrican (7-33) and Rahkeem Cornwall (3-55). Opener Haseeb Hameed topscored with 39. The West Indies 'A' team has been set a target of 106 to win on today's final day.

HOLD ON!!!

You mean we lickle "dung heap" players just beat up DI CREAM OF MIKE'S ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No-wonder Massa, POOgley, girls, and howzprat now HIDING!!!...and no doubt Bally gine run fi cover AGAIN :D ...

What did I tell unnu about di new strategy we in di PM been promoting about using two frontline spinners at home? 8-) Hopefully, dem coaches will take heed of what happened in dis first match. Yes, the batting was a disgrace In the second innings but is it a surprise when you have average players like Singh, Brooks and Campbell in the line-up? Thankfully Dowrich and Warrican (who's batting is actually top order class btw) came together and saved the team. But really the key thing in this match was the performance of Warrican and Cornwell!!!..and I know Massa BITTER because Warri just put ANOTHER NAIL in him husband test coffin, but that's just how it goes...BYE BYE MILLER!!

Only one ting left to say..

FORWARD!!!

Chasing a mere 106 to win at Florence Hall, the West Indies 'A' team made hard work of the target, once again losing the top order cheaply. Kieran Powell topscored with 30, and Rahkeem Cornwall hit 14 not out, to guide the hosts to a nervy two-wicket win over the England Lions. Jack Leach took 5-26.

It's a good win, but you need to bear in mind that England are notoriously bad players of spin. I doubt this tactic will work against teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the summer.

I find it curious that when you talk about "average" players, you conveniently ignore the name Powell....

Let's look at the failure of the top order again:

Powell 30
Campbell 15
Blackwood 4
Brooks 16
Singh 18
Dowrich 3
Reifer 3

Even the tailender you touted as a good bat, Warrican, got a duck in the second innings, and he averages 12 with the bat in FC cricket.

Dowrich failed second innings, indicating that his first innings century was nothing more than a bolt from the blue. Will he score any more runs for the rest of 2018...what's his Test average again...24 from 18 Tests!
:?
Only three players came out of this match with any credit, and that's Dowrich, Cornwall and Warrican. The latter two only did well because the pitch clearly favoured spin. If Warrican, who was the third best left-arm spinner in this season's PCL behind Miller and Permaul, can take as many wickets as he did, imagine how much better Miller and Permaul would've done....
8-)
So, if this "average" batting lineup is the best of the PCL, and the fringe Test players, what does that say about the future of West Indies Test cricket...BACKWARDS!

Having dismissed England Lions for 145 in 57 overs West Indies are 79/2 - Campbell out for a promising 47 and Jermaine Blackwood 6. Powell is 23 not out. I wondering who is Backwood pet to!

Another outstanding bowling performance by Jomel Warrican, who took 8-34, while Rahkeem Cornwall chipped in with 2-44.

Curious to see that Jahmar Hamilton is playing ahead of Vishal Singh. Talk about rewarding failure. Will he come good now?

And like Dowrich, Hamilton comes up with his once-in-a-blue-moon innings.

Jahmar Hamilton hit a round hundred, and he was supported by knocks of 95 from Raymon Reifer, 59 from Kieran Powell, and 47 from John Campbell, as the West Indies 'a' team compiled an imposing 422 all out. Spinner Jack Leach took 6-138.
