This is the XI who stepped out against Afghanistan for the final WCQ in March.

C Gayle, E Lewis, S Hope, M Samuel's, S Hetmyer, J Holder, R Powell, C Brathwaite, A Nurse, K Paul, K Roach.

K Paul, R Powell and M Samuel's didn't even make the final squad so it will be interesting to see how much more tomorrow's line up varies from that XI.

Once Afghanistan gave it to them they had to do something. #thankthelordforthejca

Four of those five changes made significant contributions yesterday.

I doubt the short tactic or a strictly pace attack will be successful throughout but it was good to see a unit which appeared to know itself and understand it's purpose.

The Captain has stated an intention to be aggressive so the encounter with Oz may turn out to be very lively, if Bwi bats can handle pace...

(Note) How quickly pYbUs, the wonder coach, is forgotten.

The problem with this West indies side is that it continues to blow hot and cold.

Australia 288

Carlos Braithwaite 3-67
Two wickets each for Thomas Cottrell and Russell.

But the batting showed that once you get Gayle out the rest will follow.

West indies 273-9

Hope 68
Holder 51

But who among us would have predicted 3rd place after 2 matches...

From struggling to qualify they now have a team which is competing with the best however, due in no small part to various BWICBC selection criteria initiatives, a constant change of coaching staff, player unavailability and victimization because of tweets, the first XI has never been a settled side.

The new ball pair of Thomas and Cottrell have played a combined 27 ODI's, Russell has played 3 ODI's since 2015. Number 4 batsman N Pooran has played just 3 in his entire career.

The contributing effect these issues have on inconsistent performance are usually overlooked by the social media pundits as they rush to judgement.

Throw in the Dutty Rass Skunthole Gaffeney and the already high probability of failure increases. That particular incident also suggests that 3rd umpires don't really look at anything unless asked...

We got an absolute hammering by England...beaten by eight wickets.

Only Pooran made any runs of note, a 60-odd, as the West Indies were bowled out for a pathetic 212 all out.

Then, England knocked off the score with only Gabriel among the wickets.

Another day, another defeat at the World cup.

West indies 321-8

Shai Hope 96 from 121
Lewis 70 from 67
Hetmyer 50 from 26
Holder 33 from 14

Bangladesh easily chase down the target with an unbeaten century from Shakib, supported by Das.
