FOR BEING ELECTED TO A THIRD TERM AS THE GOVERNMENT OF ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES . The ULP won by a very slim majority , winning 8 seats to the Opposition's 7 seats .

This means that the ULP , can carry on building the International Airport at Argyle , with help mainly from Taiwan ; Venezuela ; and Cuba . The Opposition months ago had publically stated that if they won the Elections , they were going to fire the Cubans , and Venezuelans working on the Project .

Those of us in the Diaspora are very happy that work on the Airport can proceed without interruption . During its 1o years at the helm of the State the ULP embarked on very ambitious programs , the first is the Education Revolution , where every child in SVG goes to a Secondary
School , and there are many Scholarshpis to attend Colleges & Universities Overseas . The Government is sending Teachers to UWI , to earn degrees . At some point in time it wants ALL
Teachers teaching in both Primary & Secondary Schools to possess at least a Bachelor's Degree .

The ULP has also made strides in providing Housing for No Income & Low Income persons , and its quick action in mobilizing local and Foreign assistance to those whose houses have been damaged by Hurricane Tomas is commendable .

It is also making strides in the Tourism sector , with the building of a 300 room Hotel at Buccament Bay , where Liverpool FC is going to train in the winter months , and Pat Cash is going to be Coaching on the Tennis Courts .

No I am not a member of the ULP , I am simply pointing out what the ULP has done , and is doing . When the ET Joshua Airport becomes dormant due to the opening of the International Airport at Argyle , it is to become a City , and the current Hospital is going to be replaced by a new one at Arnos Vale , which is the area where the E T Joshua is situated .

In 2001 when ALL the Heads of States in the World met at the UN , they pledged to do the following things by 2015 , the Millenium Goals , Deal with Education ; allivitation of Poverty ; Housing ; etc . I have no doubt that Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves , wants to be at the UN , God's willing , and state what his Government has done in regard to the Millenium Goals .

St Vincent and the Grenadines are a part of ALBA..the latin american bolivarian alternative movement to the north american free trade nonsense, set up by the americans to further enslave and fleece the ordinary folk of this hemisphere.

what is described about st vincent above seems in sync with the Bolivarian program as already implemented in Venezuela and increasingly in latin america.

way to go for the Vincys!

Caricom is a piece of backsliding krap upheld by the westindian elites that is going nowhere. caricom states who are in progressive state of mind need to look elsewhere for the collective movement and suport necessary for progressive movement in the face of the evil empire

While ostensibly it seems that the margin of Victory by the ULP , looks slim , it isnt really a One seat Majority , but actually 3 seats . The SVG constitution mandates the Governing Party to appoint 4 Senators ; while the Opposition Party is only allowed 2 Senators .

The Senators of both Parties have full Voting Rights except in the case of Motions of No Confidence in the Government . In the event of a vote of No Confidence in the Government , if a member of the Government crosses the Floor , or for some reason is absent , and the vote is 7-7 , the motion falls .

I seriously doubt that anyone in the ULP will cross the Floor , so in essence the ULP is going to be in the governance of SVG for the next 5 years . My perspective is that the ULP'S trump card was the Argyle International Airport . Some months ago , Mr. Eustace , the leader of the Opposition Party , publicly declared that if he became Prime Minister , his Government was going to Fire the Cubans & the Venezuelans from working on the Airport .

However Mr. Eustace and his Party did not address this issue in their Manifesto , when there Consultants from England saw this , they hastily attempted to address the issue by stating that they were in talks with an Overseas Group to build the Airport .

This delayed the publication of the NDP'S Manifesto , which came out on Friday the 10th and the General Elections were on Monday the 13Th . The opening of the New Main Public Library ,
and also the Laptops for Children no doubt helped the ULP to retain control of the Government .
