Exactly 40 years after his Black Power revolution was crushed, a triumphant Makandal Daaga last night acclaimed victory. “My dream has been fulfilled,” Daaga said in his role as an aspirant in the upcoming general election. He declared that “never again would you be servants in your own country. This land is yours.”
“Hope has been realised,” Daaga told a public meeting at Fyzabad on a platform of opposition unity. Stating that in past years people were “treated like slaves,” he added: “This is your moment.”

Ozzy in the comments sweet too bad! to hell with the parties he claims and he is right. in trinidad as elsewhere in the blac world/brown world the politics/politicians are totaly bought out.

it dont matter what party involved they are all sold out, and faithfully reflect tn their policies their ownership by forrin interests.

I am 'sooprised' that Ozzy dont go all the way and call for an end to a system that invites corruption from the top down. if you have a representative system as we have had for son we ought to know how easy it is to control the whole nation by simply buying the politicians..buying the parties so when any win power whoever is the buyer have control.

and we know who the buyers are, the corruptors.

wat Ozzy waiting for? he go never, ever get proper politicians to vote for.

proper politicians doh grow on trees, is ah cetain type that is attratced to politics that is always corruptible. just like paedophiles are attratced to be priests, crooks, thieves, liers, cheats...then eminelty corruptible..are attracted to politics

Ozzy have a long time to wait for proper politicians to vote for. he will be long dead and gone before dat ever happen. the time to move is now! the thing to do is to kill the corrept top dong system and figure out a politics dat does not permit a corruption of the national life by outsiders with money, and CIA and MI5 etc to come in and compromise and corrupt leaders

Ozzy, the ordinary folks must move now to accomplish such an objective. if deh people wait much longer deh go fine' demselves enslave before deh could do anything to change the situation

Daaga was fine in the old days. and Blac Power does have some kind of positive role to play, though hardly a fundamental one.

there is much very important work that blac people have to address as a collective. but class is fundamental and the national problem is best seen that way...first from a class perspective, and addressed basically as such in efforts to solve Trinidad & Tobago problems.

if the class question is resolved there would be the freedom for blac people as a collective to solve the nagging, deleterious, historical problems we have internally. such activity, properly done would not affect negatively, integrative forces and tendencies in titty life but enhance them.

as blac peoples problems solve and we get more successful, more happy, build up proper commuinties, end all the social experience consistent with the stigmas with which we are regarded, increasingly less crazy, or more sane, the easier integration will get.

integration on every level would proceed at quickening pace as blac peopls problems solve
