In a symbolic act, United National Congress (UNC) leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar last night ripped to pieces the People’s National Movement (PNM) manifesto after displaying it and going through several of its ’empty promises’.

Speaking at a public meeting in Gasparillo last night, Persad-Bissessar declared that the manifesto, which was unveiled yesterday, was a case of ’more promises for Patrick (Manning) to break’.

’We know of the massive waste, the mismanagement, the corruption, the lack of accountability. So manifesto or not, Patrick, it would not change the fact that the people of Trinidad and Tobago do not believe a word that you have to say. Because you have broken all the promises before!’ she said.

She said the PNM promised to raise the Senior Citizen’s Grant, but has raised it to less than the promised amount. This, she noted, against the background of the People’s Partnership promise to restore Old Age Pension and to raise it to $3,000.Â

’In this manifesto, (the National Academy for the Performing Arts) NAPA has pride of place. That building was so poorly built that millions of dollars more have to be spent on it. The building is overpriced. Calder Hart (who headed (Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago) UDeCOTT which project managed its construction) Â fled the country in disgrace after the Uff Enquiry and these fellas so brass-face to put NAPA as a major achievement of the PNM,’ Persad-Bissessar declared.

’Imagine in NAPA, steelband, chutney are not acceptable. They say you can’t take that kind of music there. Well Mr Manning after May 24, it is steelband, chutney, calypso, soca, reggae, parang and every kind of music in NAPA,’ she declared, to cheers.

bacchanal is right. dats how it has always been...pure bacchanal! meaningless showboating!

in five years time if Kamla wins, it will be the PNM time to rip apart opposition manifesto in contempt, in the never-ending musical chairs of Titty capitalist politics. the parts move, sometimes even very energetically... but things remain the same. always!

all dem politicians long time now homogenised like milk by the real power in the world, situated in washington. deh all bought out, controlled, prisoners to offers long made to them they could not possibly refuse.

to do a job for the nation politicians and parties must come from outside the current loop, be beholden to none but the nation and proceed to act in the national interest, no matter what washington say, demands or does clandestinely.

these nationalistic politicians must be courageous and solid, for they would certainly face death by assassination, and the internal destabilisation of their parties by forrin interferance.

in the end the nation would face outright invasion but that is a risk that must be taken if the nation is to survive and prosper.

but the westindian back is up against a wall anyway! there is no intent in washington for the people of Titty, the westindies, the whole coloured world to survive and prosper. that is contrary to the interest of the monopolists, and in effecting their interest, if they kill most of the worlds population then so be it,. that is what they are up to right now as we speak.

so regardless we are carded for elimination! there is no alternative but to take the bull by the horns, gather -up the people and move forward....take over the politics, put people to do jobs in the nations interest and remove them summarily if they falter.

such action, such a development is the only chance, only social option, remaining to the westindian people,. they have to get up now and intervene in their politics, change their politics to one that faithfully reflects the ordinary ineterst in the region.

Agreed! West Indians doh like change...they will stick to their ole ways and b**ch.. But they will not get up a take the bull by the horns in this generation... Our forefathers that fought for freedom probably rolling in their graves....eh

Here is a good example, the dictators at sissy.com keep banning peeps but yet they changed their identity to get back in... These are the West Indians we have now giving up their identity to be someone else and live at the mercy of the dictators :?
