Kashmir death toll rises as India faces fresh protests
Tags: PAKISTAN / INDIA
THE DEATH toll from the recent round of recurring clashes between demonstrators and the security forces in Indian-administered Kashmir province is now close to 50.

Most of the dead were shot by the security forces for defying a curfew.

Since the middle of June, the Kashmir valley has been rocked by violent agitation. Protesters, angry over decades of repressive Indian rule over their disputed Muslim-majority Himalayan province, have hurled rocks and set government buildings and vehicles alight.

Webmaster's Commentary:
Unfortunately, India is behaving as miserably imperialistically against Kashmir as the British did against India, before the popular revolt forced the British out.

India has a very brave decision to make, and a game-changing decision in terms of enhancing peace and stability in the entire region.

India needs to allow the Kashmiri people to determine their own destiny, with the long-promised referendum.

This is the only honest answer to ratcheting down the tensions in the region.

I hope Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recognizes, as hard as it is going to be, what the right thing to do here will ultimately be.

Otherwise, he - and the Indian and Kashmiri people - may well be looking at decades more of bloodshed and civil unrest.

yu dont understand! kashmir is just a current example of what Indians movement int he world is going to produce!

India is an aggresor nation with an internal elite focused on national expanson as a means of consolidating its own power. in other words Indian is a new england or america, or holland or spain on the way up.

India is not like Iran, China, Turkey, Brasil, Venezueala etc with strctly non interventionist policies, following a path of mutuality in its forrin relations. Indian is strictly capitalist and o f the most class conscious and virulent sort.

Indias nationalist idoelogy is Indian superiority, the superiority of Brahmin over all others. Indian superiority is like the Jewish "Chosen people" idoelogy in its deep-seatedness and basis of its nationalist polices internal and it forrin policies.

Indian NRI comunities all ofer the world are merely extensions of Indias nationalist power, just like Jewish communites all over the world push the Jewish internationa agenda.

the amounr of professionals Indian creates every is of no never-mind to Indias expansion into the world in a way that portends an imperial future for Indian with all attend horrors that that will produce.

currently India is the handmaiden of Israel and america for those are the examples it is following it is nationalist development. Indin is not socialist but capitalist and its future is clear.

this is only the start:

Kashmir burns again as India responds to dissent with violence
Tags: PAKISTAN / INDIA
Once again, Kashmir is burning. Buildings and barricades have been set alight and its people are enflamed. The largest towns are packed with heavily-armed police and the hospital wards are full of young men with gunshot wounds. Around 50 people have been killed since June, more than 31 in the last week alone, and dozens more have been wounded. The dead include young men, teenagers and even a nine-year-old boy, reportedly beaten to death by the security forces after he tried to walk to the local shop.

Webmaster's Commentary:
Memo to India President Patil; with all the blood and violence your security forces have wreaked on Kashmiris, you have the makings of a revolution on your hands.

Further military crackdowns will only worsen the situation.

You have a painful, but historic, opportunity confronting you and your colleagues in the Indian government.
That painful/historic opportunity has a name: it is called a referendum for the people of Kashmir, allowing them to determine their own destiny.

This will take great courage on the part of the Indian leadership, but will do much to ratchet down tensions between India, and its nuclear-armed neighbor, Pakistan.

If your government is unable and unwilling to do this, you can count on decades more bloodshed in the region. It is difficult to believe that this is the outcome the Indian - and Kashmiri - people want to see happen.
