Absolutely fascinating, Gils....

Here's some more about that impressive young man, Akala:

This is Black History Month in the UK, after all, though the British press is quite happy to ignore that.

A tale of two tragedies....

A young black man is killed, and can only get a mention in the London's Evening Standard:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/ki ... 08291.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A young white man is killed, and it's all over the national press:

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015 ... n-aberdeen" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ab ... ed-6726057" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... death.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-n ... d-34669966" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess what they say is true...a white life is worth more than a black life in Britain.

I'm sure the London PR company that the WICBC just hired will consider a contract for October :geek: .

Akala gets straight to the point :

" If I stab someone, my ethnicity will be mentioned as a factor. If I get straight As in my GCSEs it will not be; I'll be doing well in spite of my ethnicity."

Indeed, Marcus....

Idris Elba talks about the lack of diversity in the British media scene:

"Oriel College has said it will not remove the controversial statue of Cecil Rhodes at Oxford University despite a campaign by students who believe the British imperialist’s legacy should not be celebrated....The college confirmed it had been warned of the possibility that it would lose about £100m in gifts should the statue be taken down but a spokesman insisted the financial implications were not the primary consideration."

http://www.theguardian.com/education/20 ... university" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Brian Kwoba said it best:

“The significance of taking down the statue is simple: Cecil Rhodes is the Hitler of southern Africa. Would anyone countenance a statue of Hitler? The fact that Rhodes is still memorialised with statues, plaques and buildings demonstrates the size and strength of Britain’s imperial blind spot...(he is) responsible for all manner of stealing land, massacring tens of thousands of black Africans, imposing a regime of unspeakable labour exploitation in the diamond mines and devising proto-Apartheid policies”.

I don't mind them keeping the statue, because his racist policies fit in with Oxford life. So long as they change the plaque to reflect the above historical realities.

It seems many non Europeans are actively seeking acceptance & approval from persons outside their own ethnic groups, and a large number of them will go to extreme lengths to acquire both.

While Identifying those who would use Serena or Idris to leverage their own personal agenda's is quite simple for critical thinkers, as they are the ones who will talk about every & anything apart from their respective tennis & acting abilities.

Playing politics, with no intention to find a resolution :!: The young bard Akala provides them a fruitful alternative.

It's good to see Serena helping to build a school at Salt Marsh in Trelawny, Jamaica....

"Serena Williams did not win the title at the Australian Open last month, but she is a true winner putting her toned arms to work in Jamaica. The tennis star posted a video on her Instagram page today showing her cutting the ribbon to the newly built school on the island. Williams made sure to participate and get her hands dirty as she partnered with the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation to build the school....In the Instagram post, which also featured local entertainer Sean Paul, Williams is seen cutting the ribbon to the newly built Salt Marsh Primary School in Trelawny."
