At the Paris Diamond League meet, the men's 100m failed to live up to expectations. Americans Tyson Gay (9.99) and Justin Gatlin (10.03) finished 1-2, ahead of Christophe Lemaitre of France (10.08), but in times that won't frighten the Jamaicans, as the commentator put it.

Botswana's Amantle Montsho won the women's 400m in 49.77 ahead of Jamaican Novlene Williams (49.95), and Leevan Sands of the Bahamas won the men's triple jump with a leap of 17.23m.
