The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars have won their ICC World Twenty20 warm-up match against the West Indies by 19 runs at Moors Cricket Ground in Colombo.

After a slight rain delay Captain Jodie Fields won the toss and elected to bat first.

Australia lost the early wickets of Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning before Jess Cameron hit a solid 37 of 27 balls before she was bowled Subrina Munro.

Another valuable contributor to the scoresheet was Alex Blackwell (26) and Australia ended their innings with a modest 110 for the West Indies to chase.

The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars struck early with the ball grabbing five wickets in the first four overs with Ellyse Perry and Julie Hunter both picking up two wickets in their opening spells, with Perry collecting the scalp of West Indian danger women Deandra Dottin with a well-directed delivery. Perry finished the innings with the figures of 3-0-22-3. Jess Jonassen also picked up a handy two wickets in her three overs.

The West Indies batting put up a gallant effort but in the end proved no match for the strong Australian bowling line-up who dismissed the Caribbean calypsos in the 17th over.
