So, the joint research carried out by UWI, Utec and Glasgow University show 70 % of Jamaican athletes have " fast twitch " muscle fibres compared to 30 % of Australian athletes.

That's a ratio of 2.33 : 1. An example of how this plays out in the real world would be the 2014 Commonwealth Games medal table.

JAM 10 gold 3 silver 6 bronze
Aus 8 gold 1 silver 3 bronze
Eng 5 gold 13 silver 9 bronze
S A 3 gold 4 silver 2 bronze
N Z 1 hold 2 silver 2 bronze

The JAM : AUS ratio of gold medals is significantly smaller than the 2.33 : 1 advantage of " fast twitch " muscle fibres and is likely caused by the 7:1 population advantage for AUS, but this study has not sought conclussive figures in that regard.

Test playing nations by population England, 53 m people, SA 51 m, Australia 22.5 m, NZ 3 m.
It is noted the nations listed are all, ICC ranked higher, and regularly put BWI first XI under heavy manners on the cricket field.

The Olympic track and field medal table for 2012

JAM 4 gold 4 silver 5 bronze
IND 0 gold 0 silver 0 bronze
PAK 0 gold 0 silver 0 bronze
S L 0 gold 0 silver 0 bronze
ZIM 0 gold 0 silver 0 bronze

Non - Commonwealth test playing nations by population, India 1.25 B, Pakistan 180 m, Bangladesh 155 m, Sri Lanka 20 m, Zimbabwe 13 m.
Outside of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, all are ICC ranked higher, and all put BWI first XI under manners regularly.

All the test playing nations listed above have larger populations, superior infrastructure for athletes and greater finance than Jamaica.

All of which has translated into " inferior " performances and results when pitted against Jamaican athletes.

The other Carib nations to also be decorated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games

GRN 1 goals 0 silver 1 bronze
T&T 0 gold 3 silver 4 bronze
BAH 0 gold 0 silver 1 bronze
St L 0 gold 0 silver 1 bronze

JA'a total of 19 medals in comparison to the rest of the Caribbean Commonwealth states combined, 11.

If playing sport as a region is in the interests of unity, why WI don't hear calls for a unified T & F or football team
the way GILs talks about Jamaica is hardly different from the way the Nazi's felt and talked about Germany..superior and separatist...better than everyone else........... whose philosophy is based on the uniqueness and superiority of your people over all others. Nazi!
Stewps.
Of the 258 medals on offer at the 36 Olympic games Germany gained 59, which is 22 % while Jamaica took 13 of the 50 available at the 2012 games, 26 %.

So, objectively speaking, Jamaican achievments are " superior " to Germanys under the nazi's :geek: That such a feat is accomplished by a nation of no more than 3 m, is unquestionably " unique ".
