Elite level exposure and process development for many on this team. Looking towards Worlds and definitely Oly.

Yeah, a lot of the big guns are missing from this team....

here's the opportunity for some of the second-string athletes to stake a claim - Kenia Sinclair (women's 800), Nickeisha Wilson - women's 400 hurdles), Trecia Smith (women's triple jump), Lerone Clarke (men's 100), Dorian Scott (men's shot put). I'm keenly watching to see if our decathletes can take 1-2 in that event....

"There was a major blow to the 4x400m team, however, after two members — quarter-miler Allodin Fothergill and intermediate hurdler Roxroy Cato — withdrew yesterday. Judith Ewart, manager for the team confirmed that both athletes had school obligations and would not be able to participate in the event that is being held well outside of the traditional track and field calendar. The withdrawal leaves just six men in the mile relay pool, which includes former national senior 400m champion Lanceford Spence, who has been named to run both relays as well as the 200m, and 800m specialist Ricardo Cunningham."

Here's an interesting story....

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/gene ... 83392.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"Jamaica could have had the fastest man in history in their sprint squad at the Commonwealth Games next month. Instead, they will have someone by the name of Slowly. Usain Bolt announced in June that he would not be representing his country on the Commonwealth stage in Delhi but neither will the other five speed merchants who, together with the Lightning Bolt, make up the top six places in the Commonwealth 100m rankings. Like Bolt, Nesta Carter, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, Mario Forsythe and Michael Frater have all run under 10 seconds this summer. In their stead in Delhi, Jamaica will be represented by Lerone Clarke, who has run 10.10sec this year, Oshane Bailey, who has clocked 10.11sec, and Rasheed Dwyer, whose season's best is a decidedly modest 10.29sec. In the 200m, the Jamaican selectors have chosen Steve Slowly, who would appear to be living up to his name this year. The 30-year-old is not one of the 19 Jamaicans who feature in the world's top 175 in 2010."

As far as I can see, none of these athletes are attached to either MVP or Track racers. Quite a few of them competed at the CAC Games, and a few of them are athletes who took part in the Boys and Girls Champs a year or two ago.

A few of the names I've heard, but still know little about. Here are the ones I've seen a bit of in the past....

Davita Prendagast
Kenia Sinclair (obviously)
Andrea Bliss
Nickeisha Wilson
Trecia Smith
Lerone Clarke
Rasheed Dwyer
Lansford Spence
Renaldo Rose
Ramone McKenzie
Allodin Fothersgill (now withdrawn with injury)
Oral Thompson
Ricardo Cunningham
Dorian Scott
Maurice Smith
Claston Bernard

Obviously, I don't have high expectations for this team....

That said, McKenzie is a former gold medallist in the 200 at the World Youth Champs, and should be worth watching. Rose is also a talent....

It now seems that Kenia Sinclair has pulled out of the CWG....

' Sinclair was notified about her selection, like all the other athletes, and given until Monday to get back to the local authorities, Ewart told the Observer. She is the fifth athlete to withdraw from the 48-member team following quarter-miler Allodin Fothergill, 400m hurdler Roxroy Cato, 100m hurdles national champion Indira Spence and 400m runner Verone Chambers.'

And now Maurice Smith is out....

Dehydration is the problem....

Discus thrower Jason Morgan has also pulled out:

This is probably the weakest Jamaica team ever sent to the CWG.
