The West Indies have defeated the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars by 16 runs in their second warm-up match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20.



Batting first the West Indies reached a total of 3-144 from their 20 overs, which the Australian side struggled to chase down, falling 16 runs short with a total of 7-128.



A powerful unbeaten knock of 78* from 48 balls by Deandra Dottin anchored the West Indies’ innings as they lost only three wickets. Jess Jonassen was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-24 from her four overs, with Ellyse Perry (1-26) picking up the only other wicket.



Delissa Kimmince was the top-scorer for the Australian side, finishing with 26 runs before she was stumped, while Alex Blackwell worked hard for her 23 runs before she was retired out. For the West Indies, Anisa Mohammed picked up three wickets.



The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars will travel to Sylhet tonight and play their first official match of the tournament on Sunday against New Zealand.
