Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt secured yet another gold medal, when he raced to victory in the men's 200m final in a time of 19.55, ahead of American rival Justin Gatlin (9.74). Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain and Anguilla was fifth in 20.02.

And it was bronze for Jamaica in the women's 400m final, with Shericka Jackson finishing third in 49.99, behind American Allyson Felix (49.26) and Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas (49.67). Jamaicans Christine Day (50.14), Steph MacPherson (50.42) and Novlene Williams-Mills (50.47) rounded out the top six.

Frederick Dacres of Jamaica had the best throw of the day (65.77) to reach the final of the men's discus, but his compatriots Jason Morgan and Chad Wright failed to join him. St Lucians Lavern Spencer and Jeannelle Scheper both advanced to the final of the women's high jump.

Jamaicans Elaine Thompson, Sherone Simpson and Veronica Campbell-Brown all advanced to the final of the women's 200m. Shara Proctor of Great Britain and Anguilla reached the final of the women's long jump. The Jamaican Williams sisters, Danielle and Shermaine, reached the semifinals of the 100m hurdles, along with compatriot Kimberley Laing and Kierra Beckles of Barbados. Jamaicans Hansle Parchment and Omar McLeod advanced to the final of the 110m hurdles. They will all be in action tomorrow.

In more of Friday's action, Kurt Felix of Grenada will be participating in the decathlon, while Bahamians Trevor Barry, Ryan Ingraham and Donald Thomas will all take part in the men's high jump.

Danielle Williams gave Jamaica another gold medal when she won the 100m hurdles with a PB of 12.57, ahead of Cindy Roleder of Germany (12.59) and the Belarussian Alina Talay (12.66). Danielle's older sister, Shermaine, finished seventh in 12.95.

In the 110m hurdles final, Sergei Shubenkov of Russia won in 12.98, with the silver going to another Jamaican, Hansle Parchment, took silver with 13.03, and American Aries Merritt bronze with 13.04.

The women's 200m was won by Dafne Schippers in 21.63, ahead of Jamaicans Elaine Thompson, silver in 21.66, and veteran Veronica Campbell-Brown, bronze in 21.97.

Shara Proctor of Great Britain and Anguilla came second in the women's long jump with a PB of 7.07, behind American Tianna Bartoletta (7.14).

Bahamians Trevor Barry and Donald Thomas qualified for the final of the men's high jump with 2.29 each.

Kurt Felix is eighth in the decathlon after five events, with 4338 points. He will take part in his remaining five events tomorrow.

Also in Saturday's action, St Lucians Lavern Spencer and Jeannelle Scheper will be in the women's high jump final.

Jamaica and the Bahamas will participate in the women's mile relay, while the men's equivalent will feature the Bahamas, Trinidad and Jamaica. In the women's sprint relay, the Caribbean teams on show will be Jamaica and Trinidad, while in the men's equivalent, the Bahamas, Jamaica and Trinidad will all take part.

Jamaica secured two more gold medals, this time in the sprint relays.

The women's relay team of Veronica Campbell-Brown, Natasha Morrison, Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce stormed to 41.07, way ahead of the Americans (41.68) and Trinidad, who clocked a national record of 42.03 for bronze.

The men's relay team of Nesta Carter, Asafa Powell, Nickel Ashmeade and Usain Bolt similarly won with a good margin, clocking 37.36, to finish ahead of China (38.01) and Canada (38.13). The USA were disqualified for poor baton change, and Antigua came sixth in 38.61.

Another Jamaican, Frederick Dacres, came seventh in the men's discus with a throw of 64.22. Kurt Felix of Grenada ended up eighth in the decathlon with 8302 points, which is a Grenadian national record.

There were two St Lucians in the final of the women's high jump, with Jeannelle Scheper securing seventh place with a best of 1.92. Lavern Spencer finished 12th with 1.88.

The going was a bit tougher in the mile relays, with Bahamas coming second in their heat, but getting disqualified. Jamaica came second in their heat of the women's 4x400m relay in 3:23.62, and advanced to the final, while in the men's equivalent, Trinidad were second in their heat in 2:58.67, just ahead of Jamaica, third in 2:58.69. Both teams advance to tomorrow's final.

Also in Sunday's action will be Bahamians Donald Thomas and Trevor Barry in the men's high jump.

Caribbean athletes ended the World Champs with a flourish.

Jamaica came from behind to beat the favourites USA in the women's mile relay, as Christine Day, Shericka Jackson, Steph MacPherson and Novlene Williams-Mills all ran excellent legs to clock 3:19.13. The USA took silver with 3:19.44, and Britain bronze with 3:23.62.

The USA won their only relay medal in the men's mile event, clocking 2:57.82. Trinidad pushed them all the way for silver with 2:58.20, a national record, followed by Britain and Jamaica, who each clocked 2:58.51.

Bahamian Donald Thomas came sixth in the men's high jump final with 2.29.
