Here's the team of the round after ten rounds.

The standard of batting has fallen so badly that I've had to drop the bar to over 450 runs and a low average of over 35. Bowlers had to take at least 30 wickets and average under 25.

1) Montcin Hodge (Lee) 647 runs @ ave of 38.05
2) Devon Smith (Wind) 745 runs @ ave of 43.82
3) Jonathan Carter (Bdos) 677 runs @ ave of 42.31
4) Devon Thomas (Lee) 653 runs @ ave of 43.53
5) Sunil Ambris (Wind) 490 runs @ ave of 49
6) Anthony Bramble (Guy) (wkpr) 580 runs @ ave of 52.72
7) Rahkeem Cornwall (Lee) 416 runs @ ave of 29.71 & 51 wkts @ ave of 17.03
8) Imran Khan (TT) 430 runs @ ave of 28.66 & 38 wkts @ ave of 21.71
9) Romario Shepherd (Guy) 315 runs @ ave of 24.23 & 37 wkts @ ave of 20.13
10) Veerasammy Permaul (Guy) 42 wkts @ ave of 21.33
11) Nikita Miller (Jca) 41 wkts @ ave of 15.68

Players just outside the team are Tage Chanderpaul, Chadwick Walton, Brandon King, Leon Johnson, Kavem Hodge, Jahmar Hamilton, Kirk Edwards, Tevin Walcott, Jermaine Blackwood, Alzarri Joseph, Sheno Berridge, Jomel Warrican, Damion Jacobs, Josh Thomas, Raymon Reifer, Jerome Taylor, Sherman Lewis and Miguel Cummins.

The final two rescheduled matches started yesterday.

In a shocking batting display at North Sound, the Leewards were shot out for an embarrassing 90 all out by pacers Keon Harding (5-29), Miguel Cummins (3-34) and Marquino Mindley (2-19). Montcin Hodge topscored with 24. At stumps on the first day's play, Barbados were 154-4, led by Shamar Brooks with a knock of 79 not out. Kraigg Brathwaite failed again, going for nine.

At Tarouba, Trinidad took control in their cellar-dwellers clash with Jamaica, putting up 338-5 on Day One. There were half-centuries from Kyle Hope (64), Jeremy Solozano (63), and Jason Mohammed (89 not out). Pacer Nicholson Gordon has taken four wickets for Jamaica to date.

The PCL descended into farce at the Viv Richards stadium yesterday, as captain Rahkeem Cornwall declared in a losing position in an attempt to deny Barbados bowling points.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... -bad-maths" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A bizarre declaration from Leeward Islands to lose a match in an apparent attempt to deny their opposition Barbados the chance to build enough bonus points to overtake them in the WICB Regional Four-Day Tournament, has backfired with Barbados securing second place.

Whatever calculations took place from Leeward Islands, who were captained by Rahkeem Cornwall, did not work as the result was enough to put Barbados into second place by just 0.2 points with 17.4 points and end with 134.2, which proved to be just enough to overtake Leeward Islands, who collected 2.8 points from the match and ended with 134.

On the second day's play, Shamarh Brooks made 82 as Barbados declared on 191-8, to deny the Leewards some bowling points. Pacer Alzarri Joseph took 4-28 and offspinner Cornwall 3-86. But the Leewards went one better, declaring on a ridiculous 83-2, meaning that Barbados won by an innings and 18 runs. Montcin Hodge finished on 40 not out.

There was far more sensible fare at the Brian Lara stadium, where the match was still in the balance at the half-way stage. Veteran Jason Mohammed hit 94 as Trinidad made 389 all out, pacer Nicholson Gordon taking 7-70. At stumps, Jamaica were 282-6, thanks to half-centuries from Jermaine Blackwood (66) and Brandon King (59). Pacers Shannon Gabriel and Anderson Philip have taken two wickets each so far.

Congratulations, once again, to Guyana on securing yet another regional championship. 5 PCL's in a row is commendable whatever the level of competition.

Over the last 5 years of Guyanese dominance they have provided Hetmyer and Paul, to a lesser extent, for the invitational XI and both have shown a level of comfort with international cricket.

Although not representative of said dominance both players elevation lends regional cricket a level of credibility it often falls short of. Salute to the Champs, especially when considering the state of governance they've had to endure from when Jamaica was Champs, truly exceptional.

Captain Cornwall and the Leewards think tank, on the other hand and by way of forfeit, obviously assign little value to the integrity of the competition.

Could they manage to be any more insular if they were trying :?:

I really do wonder what was going through the heads of people like Cornwall and the Leewards management when they brought Leewards cricket into disrepute like that....
As the final match of this season's PCL entered its third day at Tarouba, Trinidad secured a narrow 42-run lead. Nkrumah Bonner hit 61 as Jamaica made 347 all out in their second innings, against pacers Anderson Phillip (5-74) and Shannon Gabriel (3-51). In their second innings, Trinidad reached 289-9 at stumps, led by an unbeaten century by veteran Jason Mohammed. Spinner Akim Frazer and part-timer Jermaine Blackwood have taken three wickets each so far for Jamaica.

As the PCL came to an end at the Brian Lara stadium yesterday, Trinidad beat Jamaica by 85 runs. Veteran Jason Mohammed hit 110 not out to take Trinidad to 295 all out in their second innings, against Akim Frazer (3-56) and Jermaine Blackwood (3-39). Chasing an unlikely 338 for victory, Jamaica were bowled out for 252 all out by pacer Odean Smith (3-56) and legspinner Imran Khan (3-48). Brandon King hit 133, but there was not much else from the Jamaica batting.

Guyana - 154.2 points
Barbados 134.2 points
Leewards - 134 points
Trinidad - 112.4 points
Jamaica - 97.2 points
Windwards - 92 points

I haven't considered any player who averaged less than 30 this season with the bat, or who scored less than 450 runs. I also haven't considered any bowler who averaged over 30 with the ball this season, or took less than 26 wickets. However, as well all know, stats only tell a part of the story. Batsmen and spinners get better from playing more matches, so stats are good for assessing them. However, genuine pace bowlers need to be picked when they're fast, and not necessarily with a lot of matches under their belt, so there's a different yardstick for them.

Make of this what you will....

I doubt if anything other than passing comment has been made by the relevant personnel but see it as highly unlikely BCWI will take any type of meaningful disciplinary action, so just maybe Leewards think tank believed there was nothing to lose. #theylikeitso

Indeed, the best numbers in regional competition are just as much an indicator to who will be denied access to international cricket. Regardless of topping the batting averages 5 years straight or taking 53 wickets every 10 matches for over a decade, the numbers have no significance.
