This is a thought-provoking piece by the the UK Sports Journalists' Association' current sports columnist of the year:

"The loaded language of Archer's sceptics is that of the affronted nativist - the same objections you hear about asylum seekers being assigned council houses or ‘benefit tourists’ claiming free healthcare ..."

England have always had foreign-born cricketers - so why would Jofra Archer have any effect on the team's 'culture'?

After being named in the England team for the 2nd test ...

"Jofra Archer was today sensationally left out of the second Test against West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford after breaking coronavirus protocols by making an unauthorised detour to visit his home ..."

Jofra Archer took 100-mile detour to go home, breaking England's biosecurity rules to put team-mates in danger - before he was kicked out of the squad after a TRACKER picked up his secret Hove trip

The players drove from the Ageas Bowl near Southampton to Old Trafford in Manchester - a journey of 227 miles lasting about four hours if the most direct route is taken

The detour from the Ageas Bowl to Archer's home in Hove added another 120 miles to the trip

Michael Holding is right...why did the ECB allow the players to drive from Southampton to Manchester in their own cars?

The obvious ruling would be that all players should travel on a team bus from Southampton to Manchester to stay in the say bio-bubble, or whatever they call it.
