This year's CPL opened with Trinbago Knight Riders notching up an exciting 11-run win over St Kitts-Nevis. Pollard hit 47 from 33, Neesham and Ramdin both hit a run-a-ball 33, to propel TKR to 152-7, against pacers Cottrell (3-13) and Emrit (3-39). Neesham (3-18) and Hasnain (3-36) then dismissed St Kitts-Nevis for 141 all out, Lewis making 36 from 27 and Allen 30 from 14.

At Providence, Guyana beat St Lucia by 13 runs. Paul hit 38 from 22 and there were 28s from Green and Malik, as Guyana made 155-9. Left-arm pacer McCoy took 4-41. Shadab then took 3-16 to restrict the visitors to 142-9, Cornwall topscoring with 36 from 14.

At Queen's Park Oval, Trinbago Knight Riders beat Jamaica by 22 runs. Webster hit 66 from 49 and Narine 46 from 22 to propel TKR to an imposing 191-4. Narine then took 2-23 and Neesham 2-27 to restrict the visitors to 169-6. Worker made 46 not out from 33 balls and Russell 44 from 24.

At Providence, Guyana crushed St Kitts by eight wickets with an over to spare. Shadab took 2-20 and Laughlin 2-43 to restrict St Kitts to 153-8, Devon Thomas topscoring with 62 from 49, and Allen hitting 33 from 19. Hetmyer then struck 70 not out from 47, and Hemraj 39 from 24, to take the hosts to victory.

In Port-of-Spain, Trinbago Knight Riders cruised to a seven-wicket win over St Lucia. Neesham took 2-33 to limit St Lucia to 167-5, Campbell hitting a run-a-ball 43, and Cornwall making 33 from 12. Simmons then hit 63 from 39 and Ramdin 50 not out from 38 to win the match for the home team.

At Providence, Guyana crushed Barbados by 47 runs. Hemraj hit 63 from 55, Pooran 61 not out from 30, and Rutherford 32 not out from 14 to propel Guyana to 180-4, Primus taking 2-35. Shepherd then took 4-13 and Shadab 2-39 to dismiss Barbados for 133 all out, Nurse topscoring with 40 from 25.

At Warner Park, arguably the smallest ground in international cricket, St Kitts beat Jamaica by four wickets with an over to spare in a run-fest. Gayle hit 116 from 62 balls, and Walton 73 from 36, to help Jamaica set a formidable 241-4, Allen taking 2-30 and Alzarri Joseph 2-39. However, knocks of 71 from 40 by Devon Thomas, 53 from 18 by Lewis, 41 from 20 by Evans, and 37 not out from 15 by Allen, carried the hosts to victory. Oshane Thomas took 4-53 and Russell 2-54.

In Basseterre, Barbados beat St Kitts by 18 runs. Johnson Charles hit 62 from 43, Leniko Boucher 62 not out from 47, and Duminy 43 not out from 18, to push Barbados to 186-2. Lamichhane then took 3-22, supported by 2-37 from Jason Holder and 2-33 from Hayden Walsh Jr, to restrict the visitors to 168-9. Evans made 64 from 41 and Dominic Drakes 34 not out from 14.

At Sabina Park, St Lucia beat Jamaica by five wickets with more than three overs to spare. McCoy took 2-32 and Fawad Ahmed 2-28 to restrict Jamaica to 170-5, Glenn Phillips making 58 from 44 and Rovman Powell 44 from 22. The burly Cornwall struck 75 from 30 and Fletcher 47 from 36 to set the platform for a win for the tourists. Oshane Thomas took 3-36.

Andre Russell was struck just under the ear by a bouncer from Hardus Viljoen, and had to be stretchered off. He took no further part in the match.
