Well...... Chris Gayle is no Brian Lara and after having both played 295 inns Gayle eventually came up short of the Princes ODI record by 54 runs.

His 6 from 19 deliveries was ineffective in stopping India's 140 odd run victory.

1144 ODI runs means he now move's to 8th in CWC's all time list.

35 from 48 against Sri Lanka has Brian Lara himself saluting the big bat of CHG, while apparently discounting the runs he scored for the Rest of the World team.

Congratulations @henrygayle most runs by a West Indian in ODI cricket #muchdeserved ✔️

Congratulations indeed, to West Indian excellence.

He now moves to 6th on the list of leading CWC scorers

And that's it, Gayle goes cheaply (7) Vs Afghanistan, an indifferent final inns puts a close to twenty years of service....

His total of 1186 in CWC' s came over 5 campaigns and means he's the 6th all time leading scorer.

ODI career as it stands. 290 Inns 10393 runs 38 Avg 25 Tons 53 Fifties.

Congratulations Christopher Henry, Sir, and thank you. May the next chapter bring you just as many blessings.

Your longevity and high standards of performance will be sorely missed, see you soon.

.......And even more sensational news just in, Chris Gayle included in WI squad to play India.

At this stage we advise all haters to maintain checks on their blood pressure :!:

Well, It all started against India on Sep 11th 1999, so fittingly almost 20 years to the day, he enters cricketing immortality while facing the same opponents.

11 from 24 equals 10408 from 300 Inns. The highest ODI average among West Indians for this calender year is not only testament to his commitment but also to continued excellence.

Congratulations once again Uni Boss, you certainly did it your way.

Salute to one of the few positive stories to come out of Caribbean cricket.

Now sit back a watch smallie with the small Island thought process repeat the type of abuse Lara also received while setting the record and show by way of example why CWI will never rise above mediocrity.

During which CHG surpassed C Walsh to became the highest WI wicket taker against the Kiwis in ODI's, with 22 wickets.

The 87 runs scored from 84 deliveries means he now totals 10345 ODI runs from 294 Inns. 60 runs short of the 10405 Lara achieved in one less inns (295), with a potential for just three more inns this could be a nail biter.
It is really good to understand what others consider the priorities to be in a team sport, where the team concerned represent the hopes of an entire region (and its diaspora.
