Bridgetown, Barbados, April 5 – (www.bcacricket.org) – Middle order batsman Shamarh Brooks will captain Barbados in the final of the 2012 regional first-class championship against Jamaica at Sabina Park in Kingston, starting Friday, April 13.

Brooks replaces key batsman Kirk Edwards, who is one of four Barbadians in the West Indies 13-man squad for the first Digicel Test against Australia at Kensington Oval here, beginning Saturday, April 7.

The other Barbados players in the West Indies squad are opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite and fast bowlers Fidel Edwards and Kemar Roach.

Opener Rashidi Boucher, who has not played for the season, has been drafted into the Barbados squad, while all-rounder Dwayne Smith returns after missing the last two matches against the Windward Islands and Trinidad & Tobago because of West Indies duties.

Brooks led the national side in two matches this year against Guyana and the Leeward Islands – both at Kensington – when Kirk Edwards was injured.
