The Selection Policy will be influenced by the following criteria:

1.1 As part of the WICB’s commitment to international cricket, the player must participate in regional cricket when not representing the West Indies.

The quality of regional tournaments is enhanced by the participation of the best players from the region and therefore it is imperative that they make themselves available for selection for the duration of the tournament/competition/series.

Only in exceptional circumstances should the WICB excuse a player from participating in a regional tournament.

However, selectors may consider a player who is available but who has not been selected by his territorial team, unless that player has not been selected because of disciplinary reasons.
