Was this game fixed? In a must win game for England to make it into the playoff things look a bit out of sorts.
Someone please explain the bizarre team selection, which includes the non selection of Chanderpaul? The make up of the team. The debut of Bishoo against England but not against Bangladesh nor Ireland. How about the ridiculous batting order? The whole game seems a bit out of order. Even the commies pointed out the weirdness.

Is it me or could someone put this game into perspective?

With less that run a ball (actually 1 run @ 2 balls) and 4 wickets @ hand I thought the game was in the bag. I doubt this game was fixed but all in the weakness of the WI tail.

I know some peeps would rushed to similar conclusion when the same thing happens to other teams.

I wud put absolutely nothng past Julian Hunte and his sidekicks up there.

lets see...Gibbo is their man but he also has english connections...tight ones, strong ones. he is also a little Pommy as a Bajan...which is what deh all are...English in blac skin.

Richardson was sent as manager and we know what type he is. courtney Browne is there I bet, a selector and another lil Pommy.

den yuh pick the weakest side yu can pik and through dat at the englishmen.

anyhow I thought the key was Russel out. that was an iffy call but westindies had no more referrals. westindies lost the game right there and it was an elite piece of bullshit

I dont know about a fix being in...but this game and westindies effort in it... from selection of the team to the play on the field stank-up the place.

from Worrell, Gomez, Stollmeyer and Rae...to Sammy, Skunt Hunte, Hilaire and Richardson. talk about your 100% complete reversal!

westindis cricket is the shits. Dottie administraton is an insult to westindian history and traditions.

I know and understand westindian history and how the dots were treated in the old days. but is that a good reason to destroy westindies cricket?

I consider Julian Hunter to be a most corrupt person! a useless person, and anti-statesman, a pox on westindian public life and public service.

Hunters recent predecessors were terrible...Griffith, Hall, Rossdeau, Ken Gordon...all old and awful leaders.

but Julian Hunte is at an altogether worse level. there are some things I suspcet those others would not have done..like make such as sammy captain, or play nasty games with the sponsors etc...like collude with gayle to keep him as captain by allowing him to select 9 yardies on the westindies.

its as if by allowing gayle to corrupt the situation Hunte was preparing the way for all the corruption he has taken westindies into..especially the sammy appointment, keeping Devon Smith in the mix, Gibson and the current mess of a side we call the westindies.

we are now the laffing stock of the cricket world and Hunte must be known globally for the complete buffoon he is and what he has done to westindies.

I wud not be sooprised at all if this game was fixed to give england the best chance of winning it. we just have to find out how it was done. it will take soem investigation but my eyes and ears are open, watching and looking for anything that may help clar up that corrupt possibility one way or the other

Here what the Bangladeshis are saying...
The West Indies have become a team of disliking in Bangladesh not because that they dealt a humiliating defeat to the home team, but for the reason that they lost to England. There are even some people who on same perceived grounds tend to believe that the defeat of the West Indies by England was a contrived one. The Caribbeans, according to them, could have possibly won the contest, judging by its progressive proceedings, -- run-outs and other kinds of capitulation, but they did not seem keen for the victory. However, the reasons for such a strategy are better known to them, but there is no dearth of various speculations.

In any case, this team was popular in Bangladesh for many years, even from the early Pakistan days, when the Caribbeans were seen with great admiration and respect for their cricket prowess. But what we have seen of late about the side is not only they are a shadow of their former self, but appears to have been caught with spirit that is not compatible with sports. Why should they give an impression that they lost to England rather willingly so as to deprive Bangladesh from playing at higher round?

I was watching the West Indies-England match at a private gathering hosted for celebrated journalist-columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury by his close friend M. Mokammel Huq. All eyes were fixed on the television screen and all were praying for a West Indian victory, obviously because that would help Bangladesh. Among others, finance minister AMA Muhith and former well-known diplomat-turned-columnist Faruq Chowdhury, who promised a great celebration if the West Indies won, were present But it did not happen although it looked very much possible. The callous approach of the Carribeans let us down, creating utter dismay in Bangladesh.
