WITH a bold and unorthodox blue teal identity, the Brisbane Heat Twenty20 franchise will target Calypso batting blaster Kieron Pollard as their priority international signing for the new competition starting in December.

The Courier-Mail can reveal the fledgling Heat franchise - which yesterday unveiled a radical teal, black and white composition as their playing colours - have their sights set on luring the West Indian away from South Australia.

Pollard has been a revelation for South Australia with his powerful six hitting, but the new city-based T20 competition means all existing state ties are dead and buried and every player is a free agent.

Cricket Australia has been sluggish in establishing the rules for the competition, which kicks off in December, but more details will be thrashed out at a pivotal meeting early next week and franchises are expecting to be allowed to sign three or four international stars.

Player recruitment will be partly about talent and partly about star power - and Pollard fits the bill in both categories.
