Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, short of runs in recent times, looked rock solid for his 40 not out, while Raymond Perez, in his second First-Class game, is on 20. Matthew Nandu was an early casualty, caught at slip off the bowling of off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall for two with just 12 runs on the board. Since then, Chanderpaul and Perez have mixed solid defence with occasional aggression in an unbroken partnership of 55. Left-hander Chanderpaul has struck six fours in his 117-ball knock, while Perez has a solitary boundary from 86 deliveries. Leeward Islands Hurricanes started the day on 52-1 and remained favourites by the end of it, with the Harpy Eagles still 393 runs away from an improbable outright victory. That the Hurricanes continue to dictate terms was thanks largely to opener Mikyle Louis, who struck 130, his second century in the game. It led the Hurricanes to a second innings score of 295 after the gained a healthy lead of 164 on first innings. Louis, a 23-year-old right hander, followed up his first innings 113 with another superb knock, facing 168 deliveries and hitting 11 fours and five sixes.
