Yes mr. cricket, I agree with you in general however I am not talking about graduate level education as a pre-requisite to success in life. But if as was said in the clip that there are cricketers who cannot read or write then they will need to have enormous personal strength to really apply themselves in their chosen field. Do these players have that? Do they want to be champion cricketers or do they want/need the $$$ because their life options are rather limited?
Take the opener Smith as a case in point. How many times has he been dismissed lbw or bowled by the spinners? What teaching/learning methods have the coaches found are best suited to reach into this players brain? When is he going to play the spinners with the bat and not the pad first?
Mapoui has mentioned another interesting angle to this whole issue! I don't want to go there just yet but maybe the cricketing success we have had as a region has been in spite of our history rather than as a consequence of it! Are we expecting our cricketers to be champions when in fact as individuals they are creations of the various social malaise that afflict the region? Are we all underestimating the effort required?

well its tuff to break up the westindies as it is organised. the westindian elites are one..coloured now, both blac and brown, altthough brown is on an upswing and blac on a downer!
which fact does not augur well for the blac side at all! which is my concern. which is why I call urgently for what I see the solution to be..as I have described for years now..an inclusive democracy organised by and for the people.
the wesindies is an effective unit that satisfies globalist forces. the westrindies elites hav a life in it as it is. take a look at them. the corporations expliot the region and they protect the corporations. they have access to all the region. they run all regional instituions to their profit. they are top dogs here and things are really sweet for them. they wud be loathe to break it up regardless.
i would be careful with taking all such tal seriously. I would be very watchful.
what could break them up would how international economics affect the region.
Titty could have solved the oil question for the islands dat are vulnerable to oil price fluctuations but did not. Venezueala stepped into that vacuum and soved it for them.
the westindies are still together...but as american decline speeds up and amerca gets more vicious in the world... although they are all stooges to the yankees they may need some kind of cover . latin america is moving srongly and continental success may pull and dismember the region for economic reasons. Kamla is already shifting into a Brasilain orbit as some of the dots have segued into the arms of Chavez. but we will see

dont hold back man. your input right here is urgently needed. this is where we have to go now, previusly urgently!Mapoui has mentioned another interesting angle to this whole issue! Afridi does not succumb to pressure but rather gets out because of his limited attention span, nor is he meant to be a champion batsman. Because of this chances are that you or me would get him out just as much as Warne or whoever. However, it cannot be argued that Afridi is a very, very clever when it comes to bowling. He is a thinker and can execute his plans to outfox the batsman. Not to mention that he is able to lead his team through strength of character and they respect him cos he contributes to the team with his bowling at least. Just like Sammy would love to do on a more consistent basis. More often than not we see WI players who are unable to work things out and improve.
So all in all I dont know if Gibson going or staying will really change things - I would give him a bit more time, a change of captain and see what happens.

dont the coahcers who are supposedly qualified, inteligent know this..what is totally obvious, basic and obvious to see, comprehend and address?
amd of not why not?
why is he coach berating and omitting players with a level of competence over and above players like smith who cannot be argued ans jusified to be a youngster and part of any re-building process?
how is it that the administration, especially the coach, front and centre argues for and implements wholeheartedly the most obviously backward and counter-producive strategies ..if it is not a product of what i claim the situation to be?

What gives Otis Gibson the right to feel he owns the present cricketers of the West Indies. All the selectors from Butts to browne including Gibson were mediocre cricketers. Gibson in particular could not have made the Test team, in only two games, his bowling average is more than 91.5 runs per wicket. What a waste ! to say the least. His ousting of the 3 senior players was mainly due to his inferiority complex he has for them. he is a vicious and a vindictive person who basically has no form of intellegence to see the ramification behind such a self serving move and for that he should be sacked at once.
