Kaiden Pollard hit a monumental 135 to propel North Zone into the semi-finals of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) U-15 Inter-zone Youth Tournament. North skipper Pollard, the son of former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, blasted nine sixes and 13 fours in a partnership of 209 for the third wicket with Elijah Ashton as his team amassed 245-5 from their 30 overs. Larell Guiseppi and Alex Nicholas shared four of the first five wickets to help dispatch Tobago for 86 in 23.4 overs to seal a dominating 159-run victory. North won all three matches in the preliminary round and will contest the semi-final on February 19 at the National Cricket Center in Balmain. Pollard, who was promoted to number three for North U-15’s last match, again batted at one-down and produced a devastating knock that shattered the early confidence of the Tobago team. The young Pollard rattled along at a strike rate of 158.80, statistics his illustrious father produced many times in his storied career. He also notched up an unbeaten half-century in their last game against North-East. The North U-15 captain usually bats at five or six, but coach Earnil Ryan told him he would bat earlier for the game. Kaiden’s success at number three compelled the North coaching staff to keep their captain in the critical batting position. “(Kaiden) was hesitant. He asked coach if he was sure. (Ryan) said ‘You don’t know the talent you have. We know it.
