The Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA), in partnership with the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), last weekend hosted a Level One Match Referee Training Course for persons interested in becoming a Match Referee. The GCUSA commended the participants for their involvement in the two-day course at the National Racquet Centre on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown. Click here to view more photos  Twenty-two (22) persons benefitted from newfound knowledge on Match Refereeing, including seven females, two of whom came from Charity in Essequibo. “This is a significant achievement, your dedication to enhancing your knowledge and skills in cricket officiating is truly commendable,” the GCUSA posted on social media. “The role of match officials is crucial to the integrity and smooth running of cricket matches, and your commitment to professional development will undoubtedly contribute to the betterment of the sport in Guyana. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors as match referees.” The course focused on: * Roles and Responsibilities of a Match Referee * Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures * Match Management * Practical Case Studies Participants included aspiring Match Referees, Umpires looking to transition to Match Refereeing, former cricketers, coaches and administrators.
