Tevin Imlach’s composed unbeaten 80 overshadowed Marcus Watkins’ blistering century as Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) secured a 60-run victory over Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), booking their place in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association’s Pepsi First-Division 50-Over tournament. DCC will now face Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the title decider. Playing on his home ground, Watkins produced a spectacular 113 off 109 balls, featuring seven fours and eight towering sixes. His innings gave MSC a fighting chance, but he lacked substantial support from his teammates. Only Jeremiah Scott (40) and Cordell Mars (23) managed to reach double figures as MSC were eventually bowled out for 211. Christopher Barnwell, the experienced all-rounder, was the wrecker-in-chief, dismantling the MSC batting lineup with figures of 5-36 from 7.5 overs. Ezekiel Wilson provided valuable support with his spin, taking 3-28. Earlier in the day, DCC posted a competitive 271-8 from their 50 overs, anchored by Imlach’s unbeaten 80 off 90 balls, which included four fours and two sixes. The Guyana Harpy Eagles captain expertly guided the DCC innings, ensuring they reached a challenging total. Jonathan Van Lange (32), Raymond Perez (24), and Jyden Dowlin (21*) made useful contributions. Daniel Ross was the pick of the MSC bowlers, taking 3-42. GCC posted a formidable 324-8 from their 50 overs, powered by impressive batting displays from Akshaya Persaud (88), Ronaldo Alimohamed (67), Leon Johnson (40), and Thaddeus Lovell (30*). Suresh Dhani (4-89) and Keon Sinclair (3-43) were the main wicket-takers for MYO. MYO’s chase never gained momentum, as they were bundled out for a paltry 118 in 24.3 overs. Yogendra Singh (32), Vishwanaught Ramlakhan (26), and Jonathan Rampersaud (22) were the only batsmen to offer any resistance. Joshua Wade (4-35), Alimohamed (2-23), and Aryan Persaud (2-23) shared the wickets for GCC, sealing a comprehensive 206-run victory.
