The best news to me is that Devon Smith has been dropped....
From that list, since 1994, we've only had seven players who've debuted as teenagers, and of them, Ganga and Marshall were failures, while the jury's still out on Barath and Samuels, and Taylor seems to be injury-prone.
Chanderpaul might've made his debut in 1994, but he'd already had two years of FC cricket under his belt by then. Sarwan made his Test debut in 2000, but he'd made his FC debut in 1996. I think one season of FC cricket is too soon, especially for a batsman, and I would like to see KB play at least one more season for Barbados first....
Personally, I would prefer to see Samuels in the side, either as opener, or in the middle order, with Nash used as opener.

I think your suggestion to open with Samuels or Nash is NAIVE, trying to fit round pegs in square holes is NOT the thing to do when we need to get a positive result in this game to win the series, Kraigg is an OPENER and Nash and Samuels aren't, therfore Kraigg should open the batting, otherwise putting him in the squad would be a massive waste of time.

by now itr is clear...the better pik today is KB. it is the right oportunity to inroduce him to the top level. and he has enuff foundation.
I had not put it all together and considered a 1-off opening for samuels. that was wrong of me, and wud have been a waste of time.
samuels is a waste of time as his record exposes...and after trailing around with the westindies team these last games I expect that by the end of the season he will not be a factor in westindies cricket selection, unless circumstances conspired to give him another chance.
I dout that however as there are few younger prospects who are always likely to be in his way.
samuels time has come and just gone right here.. dats a nice development. sknash soon to follow while Sars and Shive...and hopefully gayle for a year or 2... do their job of phasing-in the kids.
and I dont care who holds the forte behind..Ramdin or Baugh... while a real keeper who bats well enuff matures...prolly Corbin

things are developing nicely. simmons, Barath, KB ...all will soon be in the thick of things.
there is lil Bravo already there. dats 4 younger players of some class and potential. we have shive and sars..and gayle... still out there to provide backbone ane experience.
when gayle returns westindies shud be able to drop him down the order, eliminating the need for sknash anywhere about the westindies team.
sknash is of course the man I wish most to see off the team, just behind samuels...Baugh too but he is mek do as is his competition...and dat will soon happen
