New Delhi: West Indies coach Ottis Gibson believes the hype around Sachin Tendulkar's 100th international century could make it tough for the batting maestro.

The 42-year-old Gibson was unaware that Tendulkar is on the verge of scoring his 100th international century.

"I was not aware of the milestone and haven't thought much about it. But I feel if there is too much hype, it would be tough for Tendulkar," said Gibson after a practice session at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

"But Tendulkar is a legend and he would get it anyways any time soon," said Gibson.

West Indies' pace spearhead Ravi Rampaul, however, said the team was aware of Tendulkar's impending milestone but they are focused on playing good cricket.

"We know that Tendulkar is on the verge of a personal milestone but our target is to play good cricket. We have to stick to our plan," said Rampaul. Read More

More than the biggest joke of 2011. They may turn out to be immortal words on par with Tony Greig's "I intend to make them grovel"! remark. In my opinion Sachin Tendulkar has been the greatest batsman of recent times. We will see.

Nice one Otis,

If comments like that are not the kiss of death, i don't know what is.

Tendulkar might've failed to do it in England, but that was against the English bowlers in England. Had that series of been in India against the same bowlers, you would've fancied Tendulkar to get it in one of the formats. And given that our bowling line-up is not as strong as England's, it's fair to say that his chances of getting it against the Windies is highly likely. Let me put it this way, there's more chance of the West Indies beating India in the test series than Sachin failing to score a hundred during this whole summer season.

Here's a question to test Gibson's theory, has Sachin ever failed to make a International Century during a home series, whether it be T20, ODIs or Test Matches?...he must've done, but i just recall off the top of my head, when that was.

   :D :D :D . Well dat mek me laugh! Allyuh remember the kaiso tune (by Merchant I think??) in which the chorus contains the words, "Norman, is dat you? say eh I want to know, Norman is dat you?!" Well I do sincerely hope dat during this series Gibson will not have any cause to hear Sachin singing: Coach is dat you? Meh 100th ton done come and gone, so now change your name to Opis!
