Friends, I urge you not to buy into the rumors running rampage due to the delay in the final election results. Remember there are international observers and representative from each party monitoring the process all the way. GECOM in their press release has assured us that the process was completely free, fair and there was full adherence to the integrity of the process. Be patient and let peace Prevail

This is the same reason I seh dat some SKUNTS really love to play the VICTIM role...Looks like de APNU is all set to cause disturbance with that posting!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I just hope that people are smart enough to accept and respect the DEMOCRACY given to them!!! :lol:

For those of us who are not Guyanese, please explain to us how Guyana's electoral system works....

It seems so unnecessarily complicated.

Why can't it be a Westminster-style system, that exists in other West Indian countries, like Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad?

Why can't it be a Westminster-style system, that exists in other West Indian countries, like Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad?
I will give my best shot here...

1: Voters have to be 18 and over
2: After the votes are tallied (in total) not by Regions...
3: Parties are granted SEATS in Parliment based on the total amounts of VOTES received.

Not that complicated!!! 8-)

Ah, so is it proportional representation, like they have in Italy?

So, if the PPP get 51% of the vote, they get 51% of the seats...is that how it works?
