linkWICB clarification: In 2009 the WICB did not stage a regional Twenty20 Tournament and thus did not incur any costs associated with the staging of such a tournament. As a result the WICB did not retain any percentage of the CLT20 Participation Fee and it was passed on in full to the TTCB. This year the WICB did stage the Caribbean T20 Tournament at a cost of just over US$2million and the cumulated sponsorships for the tournament did not come close to covering the costs of staging the tournament. The WICB therefore staged the Caribbean T20 Tournament at a loss and thus the decision was taken to retain one third of the Participation Fee to assist in off-setting these costs.
WICB reiterates that the significantly larger portion of the Participation Fee – two thirds – will be passed on to the Guyana Cricket Board. The Participation Fee is paid by CLT20 to the WICB for nominating a team from the West Indies to participate in the Airtel Champions League.
The WICB has a record of publishing audited annual financial statements and when this is next done all monies received for sponsorships will be included as is the usual practice.

interesting ...here are a few questions for the of WICB....
so the WICB spent 2 millions to staged the T20... When did they know that they will losing money ? before or after the competition?
Why would an organization stage an event and fully well know that they will be carrying a loss? if so why?
Did the WICB notify the teams that they will be taking a third of the participation fees from the CL before the Caribbean T20? if not, why now?
How much money WICB collected for gate fees, sponsorships, etc ?
How much money WICB received/paid from/to ESPN for televising the matches on a global scale?

mo questions..
is there a breakdung of the expenses by the board?
Could the matches hosted in a cheaper destination like Guyana, etc? if so, why the WICB didn't use a cheaper destination to minimize the losses?
they played the matches in two countries rather that one.. Why they scheduled the matches that required all the teams to travel to Trinidad rather than just the semifinalist?

what happened BallOil why the wicb have to clarify...questions rise about the money? The WICB has a record of publishing audited annual financial statements and when this is next done all monies received for sponsorships will be included as is the usual practice.
obviously they did. but why waitden ! do it now... deh cud produce an interim balance of just the CLT20, demonstrating where the money to stage the tourney came from, itemised costs and revenues, disbursments at the end etc and a record of loss.
get some reputable westindian accounting form to do it asap and publish it! have it audited along with the whole package in preparation of yearly accounts.
for the moment we can accept a balance statement by credibe accountants

wat...yuh mean incompetence in running the tourney that results in costs where there should be none?
isnt that par for the course?
an angle here that might be investigated is who benefitted in TT by housing teams that should not have been there in the first place.
collusion perhaps..rather than incompetence? or profitable incompetence like a fox that looks like a dunce but is not in fact duncified?
