When insularity originates within territorial cricket boards in the region, it is time to become wary.
Here are the names of the eight persons who were nominated: Clyde Butts, Robert Haynes, Courtney Browne (Barbados, former WI wicketkeeper), Hugh Gore (Antigua, former Combined Islands swing bowler), Andy Roberts (Antigua, former WI fast bowler), Nehemiah Perry (Jamaica former WI spinner), Logie (former WI batsman) and Gray (former WI fast bowler). From this list, Butts, Haynes and Browne were employed.
In my opinion, at least two of those nominated stood little chance of being selected. Roberts was not only a former player, but a former coach who was also a selector four years ago. His term ended with him speaking out on many issues in the WICB. It was unlikely the Board was going to give this honest, frank-talking man another chance to prove them wrong again.
The other name was Logie, who was unceremoniously dumped as coach after the team won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2004. It has always been a strained relationship since then, and even though he is a God-fearing man, Logie must still ask questions occasionally as to what he did wrong?
WI fans must prepare for anguish

The decision to select the trio was given to a five-man review committee, comprising the chief executive officer of the WICB, Dr Ernest Hillarie chairman of the WICB Cricket Committee Joel Garner, former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and WICB chief cricket operations officer Tony Howard and former West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh.
It was later revealed that Walsh was absent. Of the four men left, one was from St Lucia, one from Guyana and the other two from Barbados. This may lead to the conclusion that Browne was selected based on nationality rather than credentials.

Andre baptiste has an obvious problem: he does not reason properly, clearly and consistently and does not present his thoughts in a clal manner. he causes problems in understanding what he is saying.
I can see at times between the lines what I think he means but it is diferent from what appears on the page under his name.
what for example does he really mean by strong candidates..as in the boards did not present the committee with strong choices as alternatives to Butts and haynes?
how is Murray a strong candidate when he doe snot even know if Murray would accept. maybe the T&TCB knows that Murray is unavaiable and thats why they did not send in his name.
and were he available why would Murray be a sronger candidate than Logie?
if I am understand Baptiste right..Murray would be more acceptable to the board than Logie and that along made him a stronger candidate.....not Logies seeming ability to coach and know players better than what we know iof murray!
which suggests that Baptiste may be as insular as those he accuses for he wants a TT selector..not necessarily the best TT selector which would be logie and gray both over murray, whom I believe would not accept such a position in westindies cricket.
Baptiste is a confusing, poor reasoning fella whose work is hard to take seriously becuase it is so jumbled!
there are very strong candidates in that bunch of 8...the best of whom would Roberts, Logie and Grey to my way of assessment.
but I din not think the wicb would have gotten rid of Butts who like Tony Howard is one of their henchmen and go'fers. butts has been building a regional career for the longest while and he will soon move on anyway, prolly by the end of this new 2 year stink at selecting, to something higher up.
and of course Robert Haynes is a tall, brownskinned yardie whose major qualifications are based on those facts...Brownskin first and most, and tall second ans las' thats the kind of people who dominate jamaica . there is no way haynes will be replaced if the Yardies support him and they do.
there is the inference in baptitste that the yardies and Muddies came together to insure the retention of Butts and Haynes. interesting!
and it is very interesting to see in there how Brown. Blac and Indian elites come together against the players interests and against the westindian interests for they nonsense does not produce the best, or even efective administration for the westindies. we end up with a selextion committe 2 thirds proven failure, and an unknown third..to selet westinaidn teams that have failed consistently.
westindian cricket is very poorly served by the way things go..have been going for the past 16 years, ever since these current elites took over westindian cricket.
it is high-lay-rious to see CHETRAM SINGH, in the middle of the guyanese players/WIPA imbroglio, against the players...after most of the Indians on the other boards playd the Indian card with him. from this and a lot more it is clear in the end where Chetram sees his best interests..not with the Indian monolith but with the class he is a leading member of...the westindian elites
