Lancashire agree to release Powell

Lancashire have released West Indies fast bowler Daren Powell a year before his contract was due to end.

The Red Rose county confirmed they had reached an "amicable agreement" with the 32-year-old to end his stay at Old Trafford after just one season.

But Powell picked up just seven wickets in four County Championship appearances at 49.00.

And he managed just seven wickets at 44.85 in nine appearances in the Clydesdale Bank 40.

maybe they expect better from Powell... I have to agree the numbers doh lie :

is this a case where we see the bizniz of Cricket? Players have to put up the numbers if they want to be retained...

powell have probelms man. he has had difficutlies everywhere he has been. sorry for the kid but he has done wll considering....

What kind of problems? He is a fit chap...and had a 2 yrs deal. I think Lancashire had higher expectation for him
