Mike did you hear Bolt's post race interview on the Beeb? He told Blake that back in the world champions, he Blake almost beat everybody - even though he came first. :D he implied that Blake did not beat him. I found that comment was in good spirit...

You can say anything when you're Bolt....

Trinidadian cyclist Njisane Philip just lost his semi against his English opponent in the men's sprint, so he will contest the bronze medal tomorrow against an Aussie.

I hope he gets the Bronze medal but I doubt he will, the aussie will eat him alive especially with the times he has.

But look out for the Gordon brothers in the 400M and 400M hurdles this afternoon. They actually have a genuine shot at getting gold. :)

Yes, Phillip lost the bronze medal to the Aussie, but did well to finish fourth....

Jehue Gordon finished sixth in the 400m hurdles, but his brother Lalonde did one better in the 400m flat, taking Trinidad's first medal of this year's Olympics.

It was a great day for Caribbean sprinters in the men's 400m, as they took the first four places in the final, and none of them were Jamaican! Kirani James of Grenada won his island's first-ever Olympic medal when he won convincingly in a time of 43.94, becoming the first non-American to go under 44 seconds. Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic took the silver in 44.46, Lalonde Gordon ran a personal best of 44.52 for bronze, and Chris Brown of the Bahamas was once again fourth in 44.79.

Veteran Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown won her semi-final in 22.32 to advance to the final of the women's 200m, and she will be joined by her compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser, who finished second in her semi in 22.34. They will be joined by Trinidad's Semoy Hackett, who was a fastest loser with a time of 22.55, but failing to advance were Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas (22.82), Jamaica's Sherone Simpson (22.71), Trinidadian Kai Selvon (23.04) and Grenada's Janelle Redhead (23.51).

The heats of the men's equivalent were dominated by the Jamaicans Usain Bolt (20.39), Yohan Blake (20.38) and Warren Weir (20.29), who all won easily. Also advancing to the semis were Michael Mathieu of the Bahamas (20.62), Kittian Antoine Adams (20.59), Brendan Christian of Antigua (20.63), and Curacao's Churandy Martina, who won his heat in 20.58).

In the field, Bahamian Leevan Sands advanced to the final of the men's triple jump with a leap of 17.17, while in the women's long jump qualification, Britain's Shara Proctor, who comes from British Caribbean colony Anguilla, produced the longest jump of 6.83.

The Americans captured three gold medals within the space of half an hour!

Allyson Felix of the US blitzed the women's 200m final, winning in 21.88, ahead of Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser (22.09) and her American compatriot Carmelita Jeter (22.14), while another Jamaican, Veronica Campbell-Brown, had to settle for fourth place in 22.38.

Then, in the 110 hurdles, it was an American 1-2, with Aries Merritt (12.92) winning ahead of Jason Richardson (13.04), with a surprise bronze medal going to Jamaican Hansie Parchment (13.12), and Barbadian Ryan Brathwaite finishing fifth in 13.40.

Britney Reese of the US won the women's long jump with a leap of 7.12, while Britain's Anguilla-born Shara Proctor had to settle for ninth place with 6.55. Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica finished fourth in the women's 400m hurdles in 53.66, and just outside the medals.

The semi-finals of the 200m for men were won by Jamaicans Yohan Blake (20.01) and Usain Bolt (20.18), while the third was won by Curacao's Churandy Martina (20.17), running for the Netherlands, with Jamaica's Warren Weir second in 20.28. Antigua's Brandon Christian (20.58) did not advance, while Antoine Adams of St Kitts and Bahamian Michael Mathieu were disqualified.

After five events of the men's decathlon, Kurt Felix of Grenada is in 12th place with 4142 points. Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad made it into the final of the javelin throw with 81.75.

Good for Keshorn, I knew he had a chance of qualifying but it's going to get alot tougher from here though and I doubt he'll reach the Semi's. Too bad for Hackett though, she came in last spot in the Women's 200M. The only medal we can hope for from now on the track is the Relays. 8-)

I have no doubt that Bolt and Blake would be in the finals, the question is which one will get the better of the other for gold?

I will be in the Olympic stadium to cheer on Keshorn Walcott in the javelin final on Saturday evening....
8-)
But what a men's 200m final that was!

Usain Bolt led home a Jamaica 1-2-3, blitzing the field in a season's best 19.32, to finish ahead of Yohan Blake (19.44), and Warren Weir (19.84).

Leevan Sands of the Bahamas came fifth in the men's triple jump with a leap of 17.19, after injuring himself on the fourth of his six jumps.

Excellent handovers by the USA women in the 4x100.

Fantastic run by the Bahamas to get gold in the 4x400. And good run by Trinidad to hold off GB for the bronze.
