Accord to this report, Dennis was the man who introduced helmets.

Yes, the World Series Cricket of the Packer years is unfairly overlooked by our historians, who really should've given the Packer Tests one of Test status or at least first-class status, such was the quality of cricket played during that revolutionary period of time.

I watched a programme called 'Howzat - Kerry Packer's War', which was excellent, and Dennis Amiss and the helmet issue make an appearance in that two-parter. If you guys can watch it, on youtube or wherever, I recommend it. I found it very informative....

In England, they like to pretend the Packer years never happened, so it gets practically no coverage. Instead, they wax lyrical about Mike Brearley's team beating a third-string Aussie team in an Ashes in front of no Aussie fans!

Packer had the vision to change the game. I think Stanford was on the same track his 2020 vision but he got caught with his pants down in other areas. Plus, his idea was stolen by the IPL.
