Next summer’s Ashes dates announced

Cricket Australia (CA) today confirmed the fixtures for the 2013-14 Ashes Series for what will be a new-look summer of 33 scheduled international playing days.

A schedule of five Commonwealth Bank Series matches and three KFC T20 Internationals to complement the five Ashes Tests will be played for over the 2013-14 summer. The dates and venues of those matches will be confirmed in the New Year.

CA Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said the number of annual ODIs will vary from summer to summer according to future tours program needs but he expected it would be a case of less is more for ODI cricket, with fewer matches on average than has been the case for the last 30 years.

He said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm the Ashes fixtures so far in advance of the Series. It means fans will be able to plan their trips around the country to follow all the action.

“I am sure there will be a lot of fans from the UK who will want to make the trip over and we look forward to hosting them here.

“We would encourage all of our Australian based fans to join the Australian Cricket Family to ensure they get priority access to tickets as we know they will be the hottest ticket in town next summer,” he said.

Australians wanting the best chance at securing tickets to the Ashes 2013-14 are advised to join the Australian Cricket Family (ACF). Membership is free, and not only will members receive all ticket information as soon as it becomes available, but they also get priority access to tickets and Cricket Australia Travel Office packages. Tickets are expected to go on sale June/July 2013. Members of the ACF who live overseas do not receive priority access to tickets. Australians and overseas travellers (excluding UK) wanting to travel to Ashes Test matches should buy their ticket and accommodation packages from the Cricket Australia Travel Office. Packages will go on sale in early 2013. ACF members will have priority access to these packages. More information at http://www.cricket.com.au/travel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

UK residents should contact official licensed travel operators in the UK. A full list of these operators will be available shortly at http://www.cricket.com.au/travel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Official licensed travel operators will display a Cricket Australia Travel Office logo on all advertising materials. Patrons should avoid buying tickets or packages from unlicensed agents as any such agent selling tickets to the Ashes 2013-14 without authorisation will have their tickets cancelled and holders of such tickets will be denied access to match venues.
