South Africa 93/1 (15 overs!) lead Australia by 163 having made 225 in their first innings! Wow what a match and a series. Hamla 32 not out - and what a year he has had, currently averaging a tad under 50 in tests!; Smith 34 not out; also close to the great 50.00 batting average.
And a want WI fuh tek a good look at the Aussie scorecard. South Africa conceded 5 extras in defence of that 225! And yes I know all the talk about differences in quality between international teams etc, however you can not give your opponents anything at international level. Imagine the additional pressure that the Aus batsmen were under, having to actually score their own runs. Steyn took 4-40 and Philander 2-55.
Worryingly for Australia but actually excellent for the game as a spectacle, both South Africa batsmen have strike rates over 100. 26.2 overs remaining in the day. Australia could be facing an enormous challenge if these two batsmen are not out at close of play and the current run rate continues. Game on.

Yeah man it's been a great battle, it was all Australia at first but the fighting spirit of SA is just fantastic to watch, Steyn's spell in the morning just summed up why he's the top man in the game right now, got Clark with a beauty, similar to how Roach got Ponting earlier this year actually, but thats why SA are the top team because they just never give up, when you have them down you have to finish them, only SL have beaten them in a test of late and they were clinical in that match, they built a lead and then Hereth along with the left-arm pacer just ripped through SA, i hope to see us do that to one of the big teams soon.

Now do you see how good a Test bowler Philander is, Afro?
Even on pitches that aren't supposed to assisted him, he took the vital wickets of Watson and Ponting. Four for Steyn, and three for spinner Peterson, and South Africa are large and in charge....

It could be a captain's innings, a match-winning partnership, and a series-winning one....howzdat wrote:Smith throws it away. Great catch though by Lyon. South Africa 206/2 but with 12 overs remaining in the day South Africa can lock down till close of play,
