The only West Indians in Australia with a 50+ average are Gerry Alexander and Larry Gomes.

Sobers in Australia is in good company with the likes of Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara.

Numerous well appointed commentators have remarked on his many great innings in Australia. If I have time I will quote the one and only Jack Fingleton.

What I do know is that my opinion is in line with many very very good writers on the game who actually watched the great man play in Australia.

Statistics do NOT prove everything.

Here is the great West Indies captain, Frank Worrell, on Sobers century in the famous tied test:
I have seen him play some great innings but this is a Test match and we were in an awkard position. All things considered, I think this is the best innings I have seen him play
