Former West Indies captain Viv Richards has said the Caribbean cricket establishment has prevented retired players from helping with the administration but affirmed that he's willing to help revive the game in the region.

"I think cricket is at its lowest tier at the moment in the Caribbean," Richards, who is in India with the Antiguan delegation for the Commonwealth Games, told Reuters. "Lots of work needs to be done to get it to the right prominence and to where folks would believe where we should be. I am not at all involved in West Indian cricket. Most of the former players have been ostracised. Constructive criticism is not much accepted in the Caribbean."

Looks like WICB keeping out Viv and he lives in their backyard.

is dat some kind of sooprise...the almost complete ignoring of legends in the on-going process of westindies cricket!

they have to shoo flies from around the gravy bucket. the soup-drinkers want it all. a few people already have cornered the westindies cricket administrative aparatus and will not let go. they control ingress and egress at factory road and will allow only those they can trust into the inner sanctum of the wicb.

this 'establishment' coincides with the goal the westindies elites have for westinian cricket...its destruction or such a low level of existence cricket no longer means for the westindian people the revolutionary potential it once did as an organisng and unifying regional social force.

so the retired cricketers, the more lucid, clear-minded and progressive they are, are kept at arms length..double arms length if possible.

well its the stage we are at, the state of things, of the society, the class interest involved and how they can be resolved.

no one it seems, at least in these parts, is looking at the situation in that manner except me. and thats unfortunate!

I posed at least 6 years ago the claim that there would be no resurgence of westindies cricket until their is basic social change in the westindies. that change would, should, lead to unification, true independence and prosperity.

the commanding heights westindies economy are owned by forriners. all the banks are especially.

you cannot have independence when your economy is owned by forriners. you cannot be yourself, do what you want and need to do to devlop your country, your national personalty and culture.

even if you were solid and if this solidity happend at the time of hope, when you were builidng up to what you thought was independence, and you flowered in all you did during that time, if it was not the case in fact that the independence is what you got, that reality catches up with you sooner or later.

it has caught up with the westindies, the fraud the social situation actually is and the deleterious impact it has on the society.

we have a jackass, dependant reality that cannot now do anything for itself properly, cannot even take its own word, as evidenced by the refusal of the wicb to follow the reports of investigation into westindies cricket done by westindians.

the westindies is a farce and all are farcical...all the ethnic groups, all the westindian people. none have escaped westindian decay...just look at Indian people who have been successful financially, academically, professionally, but cant do anything else culturally on a proficient level, not even comparable to the levels we previously achieved, far less up to world standard.

we do not even hear Indian voices raised in critique, review and analysis of westindian reality and recommendation as to what paths of resolution the people may take.

we hear not even black voices anymore, and those that are currently raised above the general din are very suspect indeed.

the westindies is the shits and all that can possibly rescue it is the intevention of the people and the impostion of the general interest on the social reality.

thats what I said years agao, everyday that pass makes that claim more relevent
