Former West Indies middle order batsman and Leeward Islands star player for the last several seasons, Runako Morton, has arrived at a critical crossroad in his cricketing career.

Speaking via telephone from his home in Trinidad on Friday 8th October the hard hitting batsman indicated that he was very puzzled about his non selection to the Leeward Islands tea :? m which is currently undergoing final preparations for participation in the West Indies Cricket Board’s fifty overs competition which is set to bowl off on Thursday 14th October in Jamaica.

I understand from your post that he is living in Trinidad , the possibility exists that the Leewards Board & Selectors are under the impression that he is now a resident of Trinidad & Tobago , and they didnt consider selecting him .

Now if Morton was currently living in one of the Leeward Islands , it would be a Horse of a different Colour .
His objection then would have had more weight & validity than living in Trinidad , and crying Foul . Had he been selected by the Leewards Selectors ,that could have opened up a big can of worms .

Point, Morton living in T&T for years now and has been representing Leewards. He usually takes part in the local competition but couldn't this year due to injury. Why the selectors overlooked him now?

Googs...Morton is well and ready to play... He just can't find a team that wants him.

I have to say Morton had good opportunities and throw em way... Remember when he leff the WI team in SL I think for his Granny funeral? Granny was still alive and kicking when he got back. Plus, he had his run-ins with the law which affected his game for a bit... Maybe the selectors gave up on him...now

Flashback...

Lies, damned lies and dead relatives
Runako Morton

Morton withdrew from the West Indies ICC Trophy squad in 2002, citing the death of his grandmother. It later emerged that one of his grandmothers had been dead for 16 years and the other was still alive.
