The West Indies will head for Sri Lanka and are hoping to improve their miserable Test ranking of seventh out of nine, but according to former skipper Sir Vivian Richards, West Indian cricket has never been in a gloomier state.
“For too long they have been comfortable with mediocrity. And, when you’re comfortable with mediocrity, the next stage is that you’re working hard even to be mediocre. One problem is that the West Indies board don’t want to involve individuals who had success in West Indian cricket,” Fox Sports quoted Richards, as saying.

Thisisnt news to me . I have been saying things like this for over 6 years. Two of the main problems is that the WICB is accountable to absolutely no One , It is also not Transparent ,. Obviously this means that it will always be dysfunctional , arrogant ; and very prone to do stupid things .
Factory Road is a bastion of incompetence , led by the COO , who years ago should have been fired , the Emperors in the WICB however enjoy coddling & encouraging incompetence . When I have stated on several occasions that Stanford & his Board did more for Cricket in the Region , that all the years that the WICB has been in the governance of Cricket in the Region , some scoff , but that is a fact , that absolutely none of them can deny deep down in their hearts .
The only reason why perhaps the WICB dont want the Players to get involved is that they would be successful , and that would unmask the WICB . The Emperors are afraid that this would spawn a revolt , and as I have also stated many times , the primary interest of the Emperors in the WICB is to be in the governance of Cricket forever . This is something the WICB feels must never ever happen .
On several occasions in the past I have suggested that promising Players through the WICB , be involved in a mentoring System , I pointed out that the Williams Sisters were mentored in their early years . These are things that should be done , in the absence of not having a Regional Pro or Semi Pro League . also when consideration is given to the fact that our Players play the least Cricket of Players on Teams ranked above our Team .
