WICB confirms IPL procedures for all players

On the advice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announces that all players in the West Indies who wish to take part in the Indian Premier League for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons must do so through the WICB only.

In order to express interest West Indian players (whether having played for the West Indies team or not and whether under contract to the WICB or not) must send an email from their personal email accounts to the WICB indicating same. The email must be in a specific format as outlined below:

I am interested in playing in the IPL in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and request that my name be placed on the IPL Auction Register. I expect to be wholly available to participate in the full 2011 season** which is anticipated to start on Friday 8 April 2011 and run for 6-7 weeks.

I understand that there is no assurance or guarantee that my name will be added to the Auction List (the list of players actually presented for Auction) or, it so added, that I will be purchased during the Auction.

I acknowledge that (i) neither my national association nor BCCI/IPL accepts any responsibility of any kind whatsoever to me in this regard and (ii) nothing in this communication or any response to it from me or on my behalf or the fact that my name may be added to the IPL Auction Register or Auction List constitutes any offer capable of acceptance or creates any contract or other relationship between me and BCCI/IPL (other than the Auction Agreement, if signed).

**If the player does not expect to be available for the whole period, he should state the reason for his unavailability and the period for which he will be unavailable.

The deadline for the submission of expressions of interest from players to the WICB is 5pm Tuesday November 9, 2010. All submissions must be sent by email only to WICB Player Relations Officer Ms Ayana Cooper

The IPL/BCCI will learn very soon what a Court of law is and be challenged not in India but some where else.
The IPL Cannot be classified as a Corporate entity within the corrupt Legal System of India .They lost that
after they played a season in South Africa.

Challenge number one

This is where it will get interesting it falls under the guidance of the ICC , so which law really does it
pertain and controlled within. This is where the legal beagles come in . The ICC is run under obsolete
outdated bylaws and rules.

Challenge number two

The days of owning a player , his rights and where he/she can play ended over 25 plus years ago.We see it in
the USA in various leagues and in UK and Europe with soccer players . Cricket doesn't have permission to be
controlled by MCC or the ICC in any country. The Administrators make the rules and they are outdated.

Challenge number three

Think if any court sets damages ,see the fallout . Kerry Packer started this changed but it has been stiffled
by the ICC , I noticed most on the ICC are lawyers I hope they practice in such areas of law . They are going
to look very stupid in a court room.
Its just a matter of time . Then the fun will start then watch the ICC , MCC , IPL, BCCI and the rest run for
cover.

The new 20/20 league in Australia will not have such criteria and controls , plus this illegal 10% commission that no player has agreed to , that will be paid to their respective boards .

Reeks of illegal under the table agreements . Here comes anti trust challenge .

Soon a law firm will seize the opportunity for a percentage of the damages to take this to Court.

challenge depends on the players and player associations. the player associations I dont trust..i.e their leadership.

Where did you get outdated idea from? Do some research and see where free agency started and by whom?

Did you read where the Australian players served Cricket Australia notice if it stopped any player from playing in the IPL ,it will challenge it in Court . Research and see CA comments.

and no player outside their associations are going to challenge anythng. they would have to reform thsie associations and organise a structure that ole marse cant subvert.

the ICC lawyers know the legal deal of course but if they also know they can browbeat the players and control them they may fell thay can whatever they want. is up to the players to challenge.
