16 group matches to be live-streamed via ICC’s website

Last four days from Zayed Cricket Stadium to be broadcast live via ICC global broadcast partner STAR Sports and licensees

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the live-streaming schedule for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 (WT20Q), which commences in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday. Sixteen matches from the group stages of the tournament will be live-streamed on the ICC’s official website, http://www.icc-cricket.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

The tournament, which runs from 15 to 30 November across six venues in the UAE, will see sixteen matches from four venues broadcast online via the ICC website (matches listed below).

The coverage of the WT20Q UAE 2013 follows the recent live-streaming of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier Ireland 2013, and eighteen ICC World Cricket League Championship fixtures from around the globe, including Afghanistan’s historic qualification to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

This continues to highlight the ICC’s efforts to showcase cricket played by countries outside of the traditional Test playing countries, and, aligned with the ICC’s Strategic Plan, is an important step in promoting cricket to become a bigger, better global game.

The ICC WT20Q UAE 2013 is a 16-team global event that will see the top six sides progress to the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014, to be staged in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet from 16 March to 6 April.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said: “We are thrilled that the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 will once again be viewed around the globe on an ICC digital platform via online broadcast.

“I’m sure the tournament will provide some fantastic viewing for supporters of the game around the world as they watch the Associate and Affiliate Members battle it out for the final six places at the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014.

“The ICC has been committed to shining a brighter light on the leading Associate and Affiliate teams through showcasing such tournaments on our digital platforms. The live-streaming from the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 illustrates our continued support for teams outside of the Test-playing nations, and also plays an important part of the ICC’s global strategy.”

In addition to the 16 streamed matches, the last four days of the tournament will be broadcast around the globe by the ICC’s broadcast partner STAR Sports and its licensees.

Eight matches, from 27 to 30 November, will be shown live from the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi in key territories via STAR Sports and its licensees. A full list of licensees and the broadcast schedule will be announced a later date.
